Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 20, the VFW will testify before the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs during a pending legislation hearing.
Kristina Keenan, Director of the VFW National Legislative Service, will testify on behalf of the VFW regarding pending veterans’ legislation before the committee.

Eight members from the Golden Valley VFW Post 1894 Auxiliary joined members of the VFW Post, and other volunteers at the Deepwater Cemetery (829 SW 59 Rd) to map and mark over 100 veteran graves with flags. Mega kudos to Ruth from VFW Post 8220 (Belton), and our youngest volunteer, the son of Post member Joel for coming out on a drizzly day to get this job done.

Center Coordinator, Shannon Kraft, from the Clinton Senior Center / Care Connection for Aging Services accepted a $200 sponsorship donation from the Auxiliary for their upcoming Wheels for Meals car show on May 30th.

We wish to challenge other businesses and organizations to sponsor this event to help offset the cost of providing nutritionally balanced meals to homebound seniors in Henry County.

Last night, our members voted to purchase a block of tickets for the upcoming production of Southern Fried Funeral at the Heartland Community Theatre of Clinton MO . Three of our members happen to be in the cast!

These tickets will be made available FREE on a prioritized first come, first served basis while supplies last to: veterans and their families, active auxiliary members, and auxiliary volunteers. Each ticket is good for one admission to any scheduled show scheduled June 18-21.

The next opportunity to volunteer will be tomorrow at the Deepwater Cemetery (829 SW 51 Rd) at 8 AM. We will be mapping and marking veteran gravesites with flags.

Other opportunities to volunteer include every Saturday at the Post (510 W Allen St). Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 11 @ 7 PM.
