Heat Advisory is in effect for our area from 1:00pm this afternoon until 7:00pm Thursday.

* WHAT...Heat index values from 100 to 105 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, and southeast Illinois.

* WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 7 PM CDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

A beautiful day is in store for today. Temperatures will be in the mid 80s with low humidity.

Next week, we’ll see an uptick in temperatures and humidity, bringing hot and humid conditions. Temperatures will be in the 90s and heat indices may reach the low 100s.

A partial lunar eclipse will be visible this evening in central IL! Skies should be clear for the eclipse to be seen. The eclipse will start at 9:34pm and peak around 11:13pm tonight!

Sky conditions are looking good for most of the central and southeast Illinois to be able to view Thursday night's lunar eclipse. In a lunar eclipse, the Moon passes into the Earth's shadow. About 96% of the Moon's disk will be covered by the shadow. The eclipse begins at 9:34 pm and peaks at 11:13 pm, with the visible phase ending at 12:51 am Friday. No specific equipment is needed to view a lunar eclipse, just your eyes and the ability to stay up late.

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Central De Witt County in central Illinois...
Northern Piatt County in central Illinois...
West Central Champaign County in east central Illinois...

* Until 1230 AM CDT.

* At 929 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of
rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1
hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are possible in
the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Mahomet, Mansfield, De Land, Weldon, White Heath, Seymour, De
Witt, Galesville, Lodge, Clinton Power Station and Lane.

This includes the following State Parks...
Clinton Lake State Recreation Area.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 72 between mile markers 170 and 177.
Interstate 74 between mile markers 163 and 172.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
