Creativity exists in all of us, but what happened as we grew up is that we stopped practising. We fear criticism and not being good enough. As adults, we often think the only people that can be artists are the people who are born with talent and who cultivate that talent throughout their lives.

Kids are immensely creative. They create sandcastles and have imaginary friends. They take out LEGOS and dolls and make up stories. They color outside the lines and make crafts that look like, well, nothing. And they share these creations with us.

Yes, it can be hard to give up control and let your kids get messy. When they’re drawing weird shapes that are supposed to be your family, but kind of look like tadpoles, talk about their choice of colors and what you really like about it. When they’ve turned their pajamas into a cape and built a fort in their bedroom, ask them what their superpower is. Creativity is not about perfection, it’s about exploration.

There is no deadline, no end goal. Let yourselves create for the sake of creating!!

Creativity challenges us, helps us relax, makes us better problem solvers, and gives us opportunities to spend time with our families.

Encourage and foster creativity in your kids.
Technology is killing the creativity in our kids.
Creativity is born from boredom! Let them be bored, let your kids be kids 💜

Did you know that on average kids spend 1200 hours a year sitting in front of a screen? 📺

And that was BEFORE distance learning!!

1200 hours a year equates to a little over 3 hours a day. 😳

The 1000 hours outside initiative is a great program that can help motivate your family to shift, replace, or balance that time with outdoor time. 🌳

Great topic....what are your parenting limits and boundaries?

I think it’s different based on age and location mainly.

But I will say today’s world is not the world that I grew up in and I definitely make different choices than my parents made with me.
