Acts of heroism deserve to be celebrated as they exemplify the highest standards of service and sacrifice for law-enforcement.

At the Police Chiefs Association Dinner as well at the UC EMS Awards Dinner:
Detective Wolpert and Officer Cusack were presented with Lifesaving Awards 🏆 — a lifesaving award is presented for an act performed in the line of duty, which through prompt and alert reaction resulted in saving a life.

Our two officers saved a hunter with an arterial bleed as a result of a gunshot wound. It is not every day that an officer is called upon to make a split second decision.

The life-saving award reminds us how much heart and dedication is behind the badge.

Today, we stand not only as law enforcement officers, but as grateful Americans. 🇺🇸

We wear a badge in service to our community, but we never forget that the freedoms we protect each day were secured by those who gave everything in service to this nation.

Memorial Day is not about celebration. It is about remembrance. It is about honoring the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice, those who never returned home, but whose legacy lives on in the liberties we often take for granted.

In this profession, we understand duty. We understand sacrifice. And we recognize that our ability to serve is only possible because of those who came before us and gave their lives in defense of this country.

Today, we pause. We reflect. We remember.

We were proud and honored to lead the Town of Plattekill annual Memorial Day Parade, an event that brings our community together to remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to our country.

We also want to recognize and thank the officers and Fire Departments who worked behind the scenes, closing roads, directing traffic, and ensuring everyone could enjoy the day safely and smoothly. Your professionalism and dedication make events like this possible.
