FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Wildwood Recovery Center RECEIVES STATE LICENSE, ADVANCES TOWARD OPENING

DICKENSON COUNTY, VA – Dickenson County and Southwest Properties, LLC, in conjunction with Momentum Management Solutions, are pleased to announce that the Wildwood Recovery Center has officially received its license from the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), marking a major milestone toward opening the facility.

The Wildwood Recovery Center is a 112-bed, state-of-the-art residential treatment facility located in Clintwood, Virginia, developed to expand access to high-quality substance use disorder treatment in Southwest Virginia. Under the current license issued by DBHDS, the facility has been approved to operate 112 beds at the 3.5 level of care (clinically managed high-intensity residential treatment) in accordance with the Virginia Administrative Code. With state licensure secured, the next phase of development will focus on credentialing with Virginia Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), a required step before patient services can begin.

Once the facility is fully open and operational, Momentum Management Solutions plans to pursue licensure for additional levels of care, including 3.1 and 2.5 services. Expanding to these levels will allow Wildwood Recovery Center to offer a more comprehensive continuum of care, an evidence-based approach shown to improve treatment engagement and increase the likelihood of long-term recovery. This phased model ensures services are developed responsibly while meeting regulatory requirements and the evolving needs of the community.

Momentum Management Solutions, the behavioral health provider selected to operate the facility, anticipates completing Medicaid credentialing and beginning patient services in the second half of 2026, following the completion of all required regulatory and credentialing processes.

“Receiving the state license is a critical step forward and reflects the significant work that has gone into preparing Wildwood Recovery Center to meet Virginia’s rigorous behavioral health standards,” said Dana Cronkhite, Executive Director of the Dickenson County Industrial Development Authority. “While additional steps remain, this milestone brings us closer to delivering much needed recovery services to our region.”

Construction of the Wildwood Recovery Center is complete, and the facility is fully equipped to provide residential treatment once credentialing is finalized. The project represents a significant investment in public health, workforce development, and economic revitalization for Dickenson County and surrounding communities.

“Licensure confirms that Wildwood is ready from a clinical and operational standpoint,” said Matt Boggs, COO and CFO of Momentum Management Solutions. “Our focus now is on completing accreditation, along with Medicaid contracting and credentialing, to enable us to begin serving patients in a manner that is sustainable, accessible, and aligned with our mission to help people overcome addiction and build healthier, purpose-driven lives.. We are grateful for the continued partnership with Dickenson County, Southwest Properties, and the many stakeholders who have supported this project.”

The Wildwood Recovery Center was first announced in 2023 as an initiative led by Dickenson County to address the ongoing impacts of substance use disorder across Southwest Virginia. Once operational, the center will provide locally accessible residential treatment and is expected to play a key role in strengthening long-term recovery outcomes in the region.
Additional updates will be shared as the project progresses.
