🎃🌱 The Great Pumpkin Project is coming to the mountain! 🌱🎃

The Dickenson County Fair is teaming up with 4-H for something extra special this year - The Great Pumpkin Project!

Here’s how it works:
Kids can stop by the 4-H Extension Office to pick up their very own pumpkin seedling, take it home, nurture it, and watch it grow all summer long.

Then, when fair time rolls around, they’ll bring their pumpkins back to be part of the fun!

This is more than growing pumpkins…
It’s growing excitement, memories, and a little mountain magic right in your own backyard.

Imagine watching that tiny seedling grow bigger and bigger all summer long… knowing it’s part of something special that will come alive at the fair this fall.

So grab your seedling, get your hands a little dirty, and let’s see just how big these mountain-grown pumpkins can get! 🎃

The countdown to fair season just got a whole lot more exciting.

✨ Because this is where the mountain comes alive - one pumpkin at a time.

🐄🐐🐖 The Barn is Back at the Dickenson County Fair! 🐓🐇🐑

One of the sweetest sounds of fair week is the chatter of kids meeting farm animals face to face - the squeal over baby goats, the curiosity over rabbits, and the smiles that come with every oink, cluck, and moo.

This year, the barn is coming alive once again with lots of amazing farm animals for families to enjoy! From furry and feathered friends to the hardworking heart of mountain life, it’s a chance to celebrate the traditions that built our community and create memories for the next generation.

Bring the kids, bring the grandparents, and come experience the part of the fair that feels most like home.

Because around here… the mountain comes alive one hoofbeat at a time. 🏔️❤️

This time next week there will be sounds of great mountain music at The Hills of Home Park!! It’s gonna be a festival you don’t wanna miss. Come join us May 20-23!

🏰✨ Faraway Kingdom Sew Along ✨🏰

Join us for a magical summer sew along as we create the beautiful *Once Upon a Time Panel Quilt* from the Faraway Kingdom fabric collection by Riley Blake Designs!

This quilt finishes at approximately 61½" × 80½" and includes piecing, directional fabrics, and fusible appliqué techniques. The sew along is best suited for confident beginners and beyond.

📅 Sew Along Schedule
All sessions begin at 11:00 AM and will continue until at least 2:00 PM (longer if needed

• May 30 – Cutting & Organization Day

• June 20 – Starry Sky Assembly

• August 1 – Castle Towers & Lower Quilt Assembly

• August 29 – Finishing & Catch-Up Day

Our goal is to have quilts completed by the end of August! Additional help days may be scheduled if needed.

🧵 Quilt Kits
Complete quilt kits are available for $94.99 plus tax. Kits include all required fabric for the quilt top and binding.

Participants will also need a small amount of fusible web.

🪡 What to Bring
• Sewing machine (unless you reserve a classroom machine)
• Basic sewing notions
• Rotary cutter with a sharp blade
• Quilting ruler
• Optional: your own cutting mat, iron, and labeling stickers

I also highly recommend bringing a project box or container to keep your pieces organized between sessions.

📌 Important Notes
This is a sew along, not a formal class, so there is no additional participation fee beyond purchasing your quilt kit.

To stay on schedule, participants should plan to complete some sewing at home between sessions.

If the scheduled dates do not work for you, but you’d still like to make the quilt, I can still prepare a kit for you and arrange an evening weekday help session if needed.

✨ Space and quilt kits are limited.
Please reserve and pay for your kit before the first session so I can have everything prepared and ready for you. You may stop by the shop to purchase your kit, or I can send an invoice for payment.

We can’t wait to sew this enchanting quilt together this summer!
