From conversations with officers to hands-on experiences and family-friendly activities, this event is designed for all ages and all members of our community.

🚨 🐾 We need your support to continue building a stronger K-9 Unit. 🐾 🚨

With unanimous support from the City Council, the Clive Police Department is moving forward with a goal to raise $120,000 to add a future patrol dog to our team.

Our K-9s do more than serve—they protect, connect, and care for our community. K-9 Dutch plays a vital role in that mission every day, assisting officers, building trust, and helping keep our community safe.

This is a great way to start off the week. The Chief received this email from Clive Community Services today. It reads in part:

Officer Islam,

I wanted to take a moment to personally thank you for the time you spent with a student. I know your schedule is full, and it truly means a lot that you were willing to sit down with him and speak so candidly.

I’m not aware of all the details behind the scenes of what had occurred, but I do know that your conversation made an impact. Hearing you share your own experiences—especially around immigration and navigating life as a refugee—mattered more than you probably realized.

Afterward, this student opened up to me in a way he hadn’t before. Much of what he has lived through I’ve only known via secondhand conversations, but hearing him share pieces of it himself was significant. That tough exterior he carries is often just a mask for everything he has experienced. Conversations like the one you had with him matter. They plant seeds.

Thank you for serving not just in your official capacity, but as someone who genuinely cares about the people in this community. It does not go unnoticed.

From the Chief: If you know Officer Islam Mohammad, then you know. He is all about community connections, making a difference and being the driver of change so that relationships can be built and mutual understanding achieved. I'm very proud of your PD team and what they do everyday. Especially the things you don't always hear about. A wise man once said, "It takes all kinds of people to make a police department work". He was correct.

Warmer days are ahead. Let's be careful out there.
