The Principal Charity Classic is only nine days away! Birdies for Charity is a unique fundraising program associated with PGA TOUR Champions golf tournaments. Here in Des Moines, the Principal Charity Classic, held June 10-14, 2026 at the Wakonda Club, is the event that raises money for many area charities. Clive Community Services is grateful to be a participating charity. Each year Birdies for Charity matches a portion of our fundraising with a generous donation of their own. School’s out for summer… but kids still need to eat. ☀️🍎

During the school year, many children count on school meals every single day. Once summer break starts, that gap can be really hard on families. Our Anytime Room helps keep local kids fed all summer long, and we could really use your help stocking the shelves (and fridges/freezers 💛).

Current needs include:
🥣 Cereal
🍓 Healthy snacks
🍝 Pasta sauce (we have plenty of pasta)
🍇 Fruit
🥜 Jelly (we have plenty of peanut butter)

We can also accept frozen and refrigerated foods!

❄️ Frozen item ideas:
• Meat
• Freezer meals
• Frozen chicken, veggies, breakfast items, etc.

🥛 Refrigerated item ideas:
• Extra produce from your fridge or garden
• Cheese
• Lunch meat
• Yogurt, milk, grab-and-go items, etc.

All items must be in date and stored properly!

If you’re out shopping the sales at the grocery store, and are able to grab one extra item, it truly makes a difference. Whether it’s one box of cereal or a whole trunkload of groceries, every donation helps feed local kids this summer. ❤️

Huge thank you to Life 107.1 and every single person who stopped by to support during our 10 Years Donation Drive on 515 Day! Because of this community, we collected 526 pounds of personal care items and 10 pounds of canned food for local families.

People always think food is the hardest thing to keep stocked, but personal care items are some of the most needed and least donated items we see. Shampoo, toilet paper, toothpaste, laundry soap — these are things every person deserves access to, and our community showed up in a big way.

As we celebrate 10 years of CCS, I think about how lucky we are to live in a community that continues to care about its neighbors. Through hard seasons, uncertainty, and growing need, people still show up. Friday was a reminder of that.

Thank you for believing in this work and for helping us continue to show up for our neighbors in need.

Look what I found in my basement stash! Do you have any of these lying around? Donate them to Clive Community Services! Our clothing department uses them to send home small items like jewelry. (Did you know we accept jewelry too?) Visit our web site for donation hours or to find drop boxes in Clive. Thanks to all who support CCS!

I drove by Wakonda the other night. The course was looking good! It's only about a month until the Principal Charity Classic.
