π§ Pouring cement has officially begun in the apparatus bay! π§
The big red apparatus doors are also on site and ready for installation!
Inside, sheetrock is going up throughout the station, bringing the walls together and making the layout much easier to see.
Watching this project from the beginning of clearing the land to where it stands now has been incredibly exciting. Staff are looking forward to moving into this well-deserved station.
Sometimes it's the little things that have the biggest impact on overall efficiency and day to day operations. There will be significantly more space for onsite training, helping crews sharpen lifesaving skills every day. There will be room to safely move in, out, and around all the vehicles. Dedicated areas for equipment storage, keeping everything organized in one place instead of spread throughout the building.
Crew quarters are separated, giving staff a space to rest and regroup between calls while on shift for 24 hours. The gym will be able to hold all of our fitness equipment in one location, supporting both physical readiness and mental wellness.
We're excited to utilize the larger training room for board meetings, trainings, classes, and other gatherings on site. Admin staff will have adequate office space along with proper storage, creating a clean and organized work environment. Also really exciting, there will even be enough parking for both staff and visitors!
It is going to be a busy summer as progress continues to move quickly. It's really starting to look like a fire station and the perfect space the CAFD needed to continue to provide the best service possible to our community members. Stay tuned for more updates!π π
