ends two weeks from today. When you on Nov. 6, remember to check your and alarms! If the alarm takes alkaline batteries, replace the batteries. If the alarm is more than 10 years old, replace the device. Be sure the alarm is listed by an independent testing lab like UL or Intertek/ETL. Don't forget to test your alarms each month!

Background Information

The Closter Volunteer Fire Department - Knickerbocker Hook & Ladder Company is responsible for fire safety and protection of all properties in the borough, This is accomplished through education, prevention, and suppression. The department is totally manned by volunteers who donate their time on an as needed basis 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The department, which was established in 1893, is located in the northeastern section of Bergen County approximately 10 miles north of New York City. The department has served the residents of Closter for over 125 years as a volunteer department. The Borough of Closter is primarily a bedroom community with a small downtown business area and several commercial/industrial areas across 3 square miles.
