The Town of Clover was chartered on December 24, 1887. Its origins trace back to a 5,000-gallon water tank built to serve the Chester and Lenoir Narrow Gauge Railroad's steam engines. Legend has it that excess water from the tank led to patches of clover growing nearby, inspiring the town's name. Over time, Clover evolved into a thriving textile community, with the textile industry playing a significant role in its economy. TOWN OF CLOVER, SOUTH CAROLINA

🚲 E-Bike Safety & Education Day 🚲

Thinking about buying an e-bike for your child? Already have one and wondering if it's legal to ride on streets, trails, or in town?

Join the Clover Police Department for a free E-Bike Safety & Education Day designed to help residents better understand South Carolina's e-bike laws, classifications, and safety requirements.

Many bicycles marketed as "e-bikes" may not actually meet the legal definition of an e-bike under state law. During this event, officers will be available to inspect bicycles and help determine whether they meet legal classification requirements.

Educational presentations will be offered at:

🕘 9:00 AM
🕙 10:00 AM
🕚 11:00 AM

Topics Include:
✅ E-bike classifications and state law
✅ Where e-bikes can legally be ridden
✅ Rules regarding non-compliant motorized bicycles
✅ Safety tips for riders of all ages
✅ Questions and answers with Clover Police officers

Parents are encouraged to attend with their children. This is a great opportunity to learn, ask questions, and ensure everyone is riding safely and legally this summer.

Residents may bring their bicycles at any time during the event for evaluation by officers.

🚨 LOCK IT OR LOSE IT 🚨

The York County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating multiple vehicle break-ins in the Mill Creek Falls area of Clover. These incidents are occurring in the county and NOT inside the Town limits of Clover, but that does not mean we should stop being proactive and taking steps to protect ourselves and our property.

Please take a few seconds tonight to:

🔒 Lock your vehicle doors
💼 Remove wallets, purses, fi****ms, and valuables
🔑 Do not leave keys or key fobs inside vehicles
💡 Turn on outside lights and security cameras if available

Most vehicle break-ins happen because criminals are simply checking for unlocked doors. Don’t make yourself an easy target.

Clover is a great community, but we still have to stay alert and look out for one another. If you see suspicious activity, report it immediately. 🇺🇸

PUBLIC NOTICE

Citizens may notice an increased law enforcement presence near the Westgate Industrial area around Old North Main Street and Ballycastle Road today. Residents in the area may also hear emergency sirens throughout the training exercises.

There is no threat to the public. Officers are conducting EVO (Emergency Vehicle Operations) training exercises for law enforcement personnel.

The training is being conducted jointly by the Clover Police Department and the York City Police Department to help officers sharpen driving skills, improve response capabilities, and enhance public safety.

Motorists are asked to use caution in the area and be mindful of officers and training equipment.

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as officers participate in this important training.

🚔💙 Career Day was a big hit at Bethany Elementary School this morning!

The Clover Police Department was proud to spend time with the students, talk about careers in law enforcement, answer lots of great questions, and of course show off one of our police vehicles!

Chief Randy Grice, Detective Thomas Barnette, and Sgt. Tracy Reid had an amazing time connecting with the kids and giving them a behind-the-scenes look at what it means to serve the community. From lights and equipment to learning about teamwork, integrity, and helping others, the students were full of excitement and energy all morning long.

A huge thank you to Bethany Elementary School for inviting us to be part of Career Day. Opportunities like this help build strong relationships with the next generation and remind us why community involvement matters so much. 🚓👮‍♂️👮‍♀️

Today’s 30th Annual Police Honor and Memorial Service was a beautiful and meaningful time of remembrance, reflection, and fellowship. An incredible turnout from law enforcement agencies, elected officials, family members, friends, and community supporters served as a powerful reminder that service and sacrifice are never forgotten.

A special thank you to Chief of SLED Mark Keel for delivering heartfelt and inspiring remarks during today’s service. Appreciation is also extended to Mayor Legg for attending and showing continued support for the law enforcement community and the families represented today.

The prayers, fellowship, and unity shown throughout the service reflected the very best of York County. May the memories of those honored today continue to live on through the lives they impacted and the legacy of service they left behind.

⚠️ TRAFFIC / POWER OUTAGE ADVISORY ⚠️

Earlier today, officers responded to a motor vehicle collision at the BP located at 1000 S. Main Street in Clover involving a damaged power pole.

According to Duke Energy, power is currently still on in the affected area. However, crews will be replacing the damaged pole once equipment and utility trucks arrive on scene within the next couple of hours.

🚨 EXPECTED IMPACTS:
• Power will be temporarily shut off from the BP gas station area down Filbert Highway
• Residents and businesses are expected to be affected in the area.
• The outage is expected to last AT LEAST 4 hours once repairs begin

Please plan accordingly:
🔹 Charge phones and electronic devices now
🔹 Use caution if traveling through the area
🔹 Treat any non-functioning traffic signals as a 4-way stop
🔹 Expect utility crews and emergency personnel to be working roadside throughout the evening

We appreciate everyone’s patience while repairs are completed and power is safely restored

This morning officers with the Clover Police Department will be conducting training exercises at United Bank to help prepare bank employees and staff for critical incidents and emergency situations.

If you see an increased police presence at the bank during that time, please know this is only a training exercise and there is NO active threat to the public.

Training like this is important because preparation saves lives. We appreciate the partnership and cooperation from the staff at United Bank as we continue working together to keep our community safe.

Below are a few photos from this morning’s training.

🚔 Strong Partnerships. Safer Communities. 🚔

Tonight, the Clover Police Department had the honor of hosting this month’s SCLEN (South Carolina Law Enforcement Network) meeting and coordinated enforcement operation.

We were proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our partners from Rock Hill Police Department, Winthrop University Police, York City Police Department, York County Sheriff’s Office, Tega Cay Police Department, Catawba Nation Tribal Police Department, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Operations like SCLEN aren’t just meetings—they’re a force multiplier. When agencies come together, share intelligence, and coordinate enforcement efforts, it puts more officers on the street, strengthens communication, and sends a clear message: criminal activity doesn’t stop at city limits, and neither do we.

This kind of teamwork is exactly what keeps our communities safer.

We also want to extend a special thank you to Mayor Legg for taking the time to attend and support law enforcement efforts here in Clover.

One mission. One team. Keeping York County and The Town of Clover safe. 👊
