🚒☀️ POOL FILLING NOTICE ☀️🚒
With warmer weather arriving and many pools beginning to open for the summer season, Clover Volunteer Fire Department would like to share an important reminder with our community.
Unfortunately, Clover Volunteer Fire Department is unable to fill swimming pools using fire hydrants or fire apparatus due to liability concerns and the risk of damage to pools and liners.
While hydrant and tanker water may appear clean, the high-volume flow and conditions inside water mains and fire equipment can introduce contaminants and debris capable of causing costly damage.
⚠️ Possible contaminants and risks include:
🔹 Iron & Rust Particles
One of the most common issues. These particles can quickly stain liners and discolor pool water.
🔹 Mineral Sediment & Mud
High-volume water flow can disturb sediment inside water lines, resulting in cloudy, muddy, or dark-colored water entering the pool.
🔹 Metal Debris, Sticks & Stones
Debris trapped within hydrants, lateral lines, or fire equipment can potentially cause punctures, scratches, or abrasions to vinyl liners.
🔹 High-Velocity Water Pressure
The extreme pressure from hydrants or fire trucks can shift liners out of place, stretch material, or even cause tearing.
⚠️ Additional issues that may occur:
• Metal Staining: When chlorine reacts with iron-heavy water, pools can turn green or yellow and leave long-lasting brown or yellow stains.
• Improper Liner Expansion: Filling too rapidly with high-pressure water may prevent the liner from settling correctly, causing wrinkles or permanent liner damage.
Our department’s priority is protecting both public safety and private property. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation as we continue serving our community safely and responsibly.
We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer season! 🌊☀️🚒
