City of Cloverdale

City of Cloverdale Welcome to the City of Cloverdale, Sonoma County’s best-kept secret since 1872. Who says local gov’t can’t be fun? 🍀🍊🎡🌲

This page contains information, meeting details, survey links, a sprinkling of sass, and a suspicious amount of civic enthusiasm. Nestled in the heart of wine country, the quiet City of Cloverdale has a sunny disposition and an even warmer climate. The northern gateway to Sonoma County, Cloverdale will charm you with its old-town feel, and reel you in with its stunning surroundings. Though smaller

in size with under 10,000 residents, it is big on character. A hub for outdoor recreation and an intersection for art, culture, history, music, and theater. Cloverdalians enjoy relaxed California living while City Officials and Staff are committed to their health, safety, and well-being.

The Friday Night Lights are shining on Cloverdale again, and this year’s senior-heavy Eagles squad is ready to make the most of them.

Upper Lake is coming to town Friday, September 11, and John L. Allen Memorial Field is the place to be! JV kicks off at 5 PM, Varsity takes the field at 7 PM.
And this year, the cheerleaders are leading more than cheers. They’re leading theme nights, which means they have assignments for the rest of us. First up: Red, White & Blue Night. Wear the colors, fill the stands, and bring enough hometown pride to make it very clear whose field this is.

The City is proud to support Cloverdale High and our student athletes all season long. One town. One high school. One hometown team. Loyalty means showing up for your own. Those stands ought to look like it. See you there!

Thanks Eagle coaches for providing the promo vid! Go Eagles!

Big Brother watching you? Can’t speak to that. Local government’s place in the family tree is another question. (Little Brother? Middle Child? Long-lost municipal cousin? 🤔) Anyways…

Either way, these funky boxes you may have seen around town aren’t surveillance cameras and they aren't ours. While they admittedly look a little suspect and we even removed a few while investigating, it turns out their purpose is simply to count vehicles as part of a larger countywide traffic study. Since they aren’t part of a City of Cloverdale program, if you have questions or complaints about one, please contact the number posted directly on the counter: 928-774-7275.

For questions about our Flock cameras and their very specific purpose, please reach out to our police department directly: www.cloverdale.net/pd

New paint, who dis?

Our Wastewater Treatment Plant buildings were looking a little... experienced. So they got some fresh paint, and we have to say, the before-and-after photos speak for themselves.

Props to our crew that handled the transformation one coat at a time. The plant may come with a distinctive aroma, but we appreciate everything our wastewater team does to keep this critical infrastructure operational (aka, everyone’s toilets flushing and showers draining). They deserved this long-awaited glow-up!

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE CITY ATTORNEY’S OFFICE:

We’ve recently received questions on the City’s funding decisions for local nonprofits. During the budget adoption process in June, the City Council approved funding requests for certain nonprofits that have also received funding in prior years. The City Council decided that funding requests from new entities should be considered separately, after those entities could present to the City Council on their requests, like the existing entities receiving funding had done in the past. The City Council directed that these entities reach out to the City Manager to schedule a presentation when they were ready. Once those requests are received, the presentations will be scheduled for Council consideration. The City Council will make decisions about the funding requests at that time.

A little digging, a little striping, and the occasional trip up in the bucket truck. Just another week keeping Cloverdale moving.

Our Public Works and Parks crews were busy around town this week, installing irrigation lines at the Community Garden, repairing streetlights, refreshing STOP pavement markings near schools and busy intersections, and repairing the 3-inch water main serving Vintage Meadows Park.

Crews also tackled potholes and pavement depressions, responded to service requests, assisted with new security fencing at the Cloverdale Municipal Airport, and got downtown ready for the annual Car Show.

Some of the work is easy to spot. Some of it is underground. Some of it apparently requires a really tall truck. It all adds up to taking care of Cloverdale.

Good work deserves a little time in the spotlight.

Councilmember Andrés Marquez used his Citizen Recognition Program selection to honor the Cloverdale Food Pantry for its outstanding community service and contributions to Cloverdale.

Since 1988, the Cloverdale Food Pantry has served food-insecure members of our community, providing free groceries to all who come to its door. Supported by donations from the community, it’s a pretty great example of Cloverdale taking care of Cloverdale.

Joe Wiedman accepted the certificate on behalf of the Food Pantry and addressed the Council. Volunteers and Council are pictured below.

It’s the people and organizations who show up, lend a hand, and take care of their neighbors that help make a small town a community. Congratulations to the Cloverdale Food Pantry, and thank you for all you do.
