California Apple Commission

California Apple Commission The California Apple Commission represents the apple growers of California that grow 40,000 pounds or more of fresh apples.

The California Apple Commission was created to administer the state marketing order program for California apples. This program operates under state enabling legislature and the California Marketing Act of 1937. Thanks to the Commission, California apple producers may now ship to over 60 different countries including: Canada, Mexico, Taiwan, Malaysia and the United Kingdom. Additionally, the CAC h

as succeeded and continues to succeed in conducting research in vital pre- and post-harvest practice, provide unified industry voice on apple matters, assist in protecting California apple producers from harmful pests and diseases, develop, inform, and monitor standardization and provide key apple industry market information to the industry. By state law, all commercial apple growers which produce more than 40,000 pounds of apples must join the California Apple Commission. The Commission is then funded by a 24 cent assessment on each 40-pound box of apples produced by the member growers. The California Apple Commission has a full time staff of three: Executive Director/President - Alexander Ott, Director of Trade & Technical Affairs – Todd Sanders, and Administrative Assistant Janette Ramos.

Meet Amy Snyder of JJB Family Farms 🍎💛—a true ag industry veteran with 30 years of experience, from FFA as a kid to Perishable Distribution, and now thriving as a grower, packer, and shipper. Amy’s proudest accomplishment? The relationships she’s built along the way. For her, people are at the heart of agriculture, and she thrives surrounded by those who inspire, challenge, and push her to grow every day.

When she’s not in the orchard or advocating for the industry, Amy lives life to the fullest—racing sportbikes 🏍️, teaching dance 💃, exploring the city’s nightlife, belting out karaoke 🎤, traveling the world, attending EDM festivals, and giving back through philanthropy.

As a member of the California Apple Commission, Amy channels her passion into advocacy, positive change, and supporting the growers and communities that make California agriculture thrive. Her journey reminds us that farming is more than crops—it’s relationships, dedication, and heart.
