So many things behind the scenes make what we do possible. See these towels? They were lovingly collected for us by our friend, Holly, who regularly makes the rounds to pick up items for Westside Rescue that her friends and associates have for us. Things like towels are super-helpful for many of our folks in need and their pets. Ask me how many dirt patches we have carpeted with clean towels to keep post-surgery dogs clean as they recuperate! The village that it takes includes many people. Some of them are very quiet and generous, but just keep showing up and doing the work. I am so grateful to have their devoted help!---Karen

Thank you, friends at HOPE Animal Foundation for helping our senior girl here today. Yes, everyone is more cautious when the surgery patient is older, has lived on the streets with her person for years, and has had many litters of puppies! Thank goodness for all the skilled staff at the clinic who worked their magic for us! As I write this, I am thankful that this, perhaps her first ever visit to a veterinary clinic, was such a great day for her. Resting comfortably this afternoon as the anesthesia wears off.

This has been a great day for this dog because her life will be easier, going forward. It's a great day for me because of what her human dad and others who help him have learned about how POSSIBLE this is---and how much of a difference it makes to our whole community!---Karen

P.S. This girl gets some extra-special treatment, as one of her advocates is taking care of her at his home during her recuperation this week .

P.P.S. She and her dad are approved for some housing in the next month, so things are really looking up. We will support them as they get used to an easier life after years on the street. Stay tuned for updates.

Following up on how their spay and neuter surgery recuperation is going and making sure we get rid of the tapeworms their brother has is our idea of a good time, right, Nelam Nagra ?! Seriously, though, this is the good stuff!! A whole group of dogs who will live longer and more healthfully and no longer add to our pet overpopulation crisis makes us VERY happy.

Just letting these ladies inspect my incision area after I got...ummmm....neutered a few days ago.---Moosey💚
