Last night, the City Council passed a resolution authorizing a levy lid lift to be placed as a ballot measure. Voters will see Proposition 1 in the general election on November 3, considering whether to approve a tax levy rate that would increase from approximately $0.30 to $0.50 per $1,000 of assessed valuation for 2027, with 3% annual increases for 2028-2036. This equates to about $225 more per million dollars of assessed value, or $900 for the average $4M home next year. Homeowners who are 61 years or older, or disabled and meet low-income requirements, may qualify for a property tax exemption as described in RCW 84.36.381.
