Junius Volunteer Fire Department

Junius Volunteer Fire Department Serving the Community since 1946! The Junius Fire Department was formed in 1946. The original station was located on Dublin Road.

The fire district covers 25 square miles and protects about 1400 residents. In the early 1990's a new station was built on Rt. 318 to house more trucks in a growing fleet. As the new trucks were bigger in size and would not fit in the old Dublin station a new fire house was built next door. The old fire house was sold to the town to use as a community center. Currently we have 2 engines, 1 rescue

and one tanker and work out of the 2 stations. The fire dept is support through a fire tax as well as fund raisers. In our district we have the Waterloo Premium Outlet center, Wadhams Trucking as some of our larger businesses.

Tonight we practice getting a person off the ice at Martin’s ice skating ring. Great team work and rope practice drill.

As a reminder to the public that is getting water at the fill station. When you’re done filling up please be sure to drain the hose. Several times over the past week the hose has been frozen solid. We then have to get it into the station to thaw out and then put it back. If this continues to be a problem we will be forced to close the fill station for the winter. We know many rely on this for water and that’s the last thing we want to do. Thanks for your help and understanding.

Today we were called out for a dump trailer on fire at the Junius ponds rest area on thruway. The truck was full of baled scrap metal that was packed into the trailer. The driver had to dump the load so we could get access to the fire. Foam was then applied to put out the fire. Tyre Fire dept was called in mutual aid to assist us.
