Week 1: Safety Week

Day 1

On Monday, our Clyde Volunteer Fire Department came for their annual visit with our kids camp. They talked with us about fire safety and what to do in case of an emergency. The kids learned about the fire engine, as well as sit inside to get their picture taken. After that, they enjoyed running through the obstacle course, which consisted of “spraying down a fire,” dragging a fire hose, and crawling through the smoke house to finish it off. Our firefighters did not leave without giving our kids plenty of goodies to take home! Thank you to our local department for supporting our kids and keeping our community safe and informed! Lastly, we ended the day with a race around the pond.

Day 2

On Tuesday, we walked to the Clyde Police Station. The kids were able to learn all the ins and outs of the station. We started with learning more about the police vehicles, and where everything is stored. We then went into the building to see the holding cell, the interrogation room, and where the officers view the cameras. The kids absolutely enjoyed seeing how far the cameras could see into our city, and how they are used to identify possible suspects. A big thank you to our local police department for letting our camp come out once again!

Day 3

On Wednesday, we learned many different ways to stay safe in the park.

Day 4

On Thursday, we were visited by Jordan Hasselbach. Jordan oversees the technology department for Clyde-GreenSprings Schools. He was able to speak with our kids about internet safety and how he keeps them safe, while they are in school on their chromebooks. He answered questions and provided tips when playing popular online games. They also earned candy for answering questions.
Thank you to Jordan for taking time out of your busy schedule to talk with our camp about staying safe online! After his presentation, we went up to the pool and learned about pool safety, and enjoyed a nice swim at the Clyde Aquatic Center.
Another thank you to The Clyde Volunteer Fire Department, The Clyde Police Department, Jordan Hasselbach, and The Clyde Aquatic Center for taking time to educate our kids on staying safe!

Week 2: Plants and Critters Week

✨Highlights from the week ✨

Our campers enjoyed special nature crafts, activities, and games. We started the week with nature spinners. The nature spinners were made to hang in a windowsill and spin in the breeze. Each kid chose a unique nature theme to create their own. They also loved some classic outdoor time with activities such as chalk, freeze tag, and heads up 7 up. Towards the end of the week, each child planted flower seeds in their own pot to take home, hoping to grow some beautiful wildflowers. To finish our week, everyone enjoyed making their own firefly jar. They decorated the background to look like the night sky, and finger painted their very own fireflies.

Kids Camp will NOT be swimming this morning due to cool temperatures. Drop off and pick up will be at the open shelter house.
