On Tuesday August 25, 2026 at 1915 hours, units were dispatched to the 100 Block of Old Detour Road in Soak Creek to assist Sophia Area VFD with a structure fire. Sophia City VFD, Jancare Ambulance, and Sophia PD also responded to the scene.

🚒🚔 CONGRATULATIONS! 🚔🚒

We would like to congratulate Firefighter Corey “Braxton” Cooper on graduating from the West Virginia State Police Academy!

While serving the community as a firefighter, he has also answered the call to serve in law enforcement with the Mullens Police Department. Completing the West Virginia State Police Academy is a major accomplishment that takes dedication, discipline, and countless hours of hard work.

We’re proud to see Braxton take this next step in his law enforcement career and continue serving the citizens of our area in more ways than one.

Last night our crews attended the Hinton Water Festival Firemen’s Parade. We proudly brought home trophies in the categories for Custom Engine and Tanker. Our guys took great pride in ensuring our trucks looked thier best.

We would also like to congratulate Lester and Ghent VFDs from Raleigh County who received trophies as well.
