Remembering Mrs. Lucille DeGulie
Our school district and community mourn the loss of Mrs. Lucille DeGulie, who passed away Wednesday, September 2, at the age of 102.
Mrs. DeGulie made a lasting impact on generations of Coalers, and her contributions to Coal City High School, the Coal City School District, and our community will long be remembered. For more than 30 years, she dedicated herself to teaching at Coal City High School, where she had the opportunity to influence the lives of countless students.
As noted in her obituary, Lucille’s life was enriched by her teaching profession. She cherished the opportunity to interact with young people and treasured the many friendships she formed throughout her career. While her life was enriched by the profession she loved, the same can be said for the countless students who were fortunate enough to sit in her classroom and the colleagues who had the privilege of working alongside her and learning from her knowledge, wisdom, and insight.
Her legacy lives on through the many generations of Coalers she taught and the lasting relationships she built throughout our community.
Our school community extends its heartfelt condolences to Mrs. DeGulie’s family, friends, former students, colleagues, and all who were fortunate to know and love her.
