At 1809 hours this date, Union Fire Company Engine 131 was dispatched with the entirety of the Coal Township Fire Department for a structure fire on the 1500 blk. of W. Walnut St, the 110 box. Secondary information reported a smell of burnt rubber.

Engine 131 was assigned to stand by at a hydrant while the chiefs investigated. Box operated for about 30 min.

🔧 While everyone sees Engine 131 on the street, a lot of work happens behind the scenes to keep her ready for the next call.

Over the last couple of days, Engine 131 has been getting some much-needed upgrades, including:

💡 New LED lighting in the compartments and rear of the truck
📊 New gauges on the pump panel
🚒 Rebuilt deck gun

And we're not finished yet. More lighting upgrades are on the way, along with a new throttle control for the pump.

A big thank you to Glick Fire Equipment for sending a technician directly to our station, helping us minimize downtime and keep Engine 131 available for service.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who supports our fundraisers throughout the year. Every raffle ticket purchased, every share, every donation, and every bit of support helps make projects like these possible. Keeping our equipment ready to serve doesn't happen without you.

At 1859hrs this date, Union Fire Company Engine 131 was dispatched with Engine 111 and Rescue 193 for a smoke investigation on the Glen Burn mountain.

Engine 131 responded and staged at Mavis/Jack Williams near the Cameron bridge while chiefs investigated. It was found to be a small rubbish fire and was extinguished by chief staff.

🚨 Attention Coal Region Residents 🚨

If you see black smoke in the area of the Coal Township Police Department, please do NOT call 9-1-1.

The local VFW is conducting a ceremonial flag retirement in observance of Flag Day. The black smoke is part of this planned event and is not an emergency.

The ceremony is expected to last approximately one hour.
