Dear Coatesville Residents,
We want to address something you may have noticed at Ash Park — areas of tall weeds and overgrown vegetation throughout the park grounds. We hear you, and we want you to know this is being addressed.

Our parks team and Public Works crew will be moving through Ash Park over the coming weeks to clear overgrown areas and restore the grounds to a clean, welcoming space our community deserves.

WHY SOME AREAS LOOK THE WAY THEY DO
As part of Ash Park's $5 million+ revitalization, the City installed rain garden beds, a green stormwater system designed to naturally absorb rainwater, reduce flooding, and filter runoff before it reaches local waterways. Some of what may appear to be "weeds" are actually early-stage plantings and native ground cover that are part of this system getting established.

Rain gardens require a period of natural growth before they begin to look their best. During the early weeks and months, new plantings can look sparse, uneven, or wild, that's completely normal and a sign the ecosystem is taking root. Once established, these beds will feature native flowers, grasses, and shrubs that are beautiful, low-maintenance, and environmentally beneficial to our entire neighborhood.

ABOUT EARLY GRASS GROWTH
New grass seeding also requires patience. Freshly seeded areas need time, typically 3 to 6 weeks to germinate and develop strong root systems before they can handle foot traffic or mowing. During this period, newly seeded sections of the park may appear thin, patchy, or uneven. We ask residents to please stay off newly seeded areas where signs are posted, as foot traffic during early growth can damage young root systems before they have a chance to establish.

Once the grass and rain garden plantings are fully established, Ash Park will reflect the beautiful, sustainable green space that every resident of Coatesville deserves, a place to gather, play, and enjoy for generations to come.

• W**d clearing and ground cleanup in the coming weeks
• Continued rain garden bed establishment
• New grass growth and seeding protection
• Ongoing revitalization improvements as part of the $5M+ Ash Park project

Thank you for your patience as we build something great together. In the meantime, while these issues are being resolved, please enjoy the park. Newer features are coming next year, and it will be worth the wait.

Ash Park is officially back, and what a celebration it was!

We were thrilled to welcome residents, community leaders, public officials, and partners for the grand reopening of one of Coatesville's most cherished gathering spaces. After the ribbon cutting, families spent the day exploring the park's exciting new features, cooling off at the splash pad, enjoying entertainment and refreshments, and making new memories together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this exciting new chapter for Ash Park. We can't wait to see our community continue to gather, play, and grow here for generations to come.
