This is what you feel when you come through our gates. NATURE.❤️
Nature that has been nurtured, loved and cultivated by everyone that has has put in time here.
Whether you've worked this small gem of the earth with us, donated food, money, time, or have visited to share in the reciprocity of joy and peace beneath the beautiful canopy we are graced with - you have become a part of our family. A family we are so blessed to have found and built.
This - is also why you see the name Earth-Speak Park that started showing up across our social media - somewhere during covid I believe it was - it really frames who we are.
Animal Edventures has been our licensed name since 2004.
But - as things are want to do in our Society, somehow, in the last few years, it has become incredibly popular to use it at other facilities. Even NC Zoo has a program using the name, as do several others. Not a big deal maybe, until...
In particular, in Florida, despite the fact that the name is trademarked, a facilty begin using it as their business name. A facility in direct opposition to our practices and what we do. This has caused confusion over time, and in fact we have been confronted by the USDA for infractions committed at the fla facility, as well as had people "buy tickets" - which we do not sell online - and then become very upset when they realize they're in North Carolina and the tickets they bought belong in Florida. For what it's worth, a trademark is only good if you have the funds to hire a lawyer in another state and pursue it. Unfortunately our resources have other priorities. So way back when, the staff took a vote and decided that Earth-Speak was most fitting as we continue to create more ways, and spaces, to bring people back to the place of wonder and connection to the beauty of our natural world. A headspace that so many of us had as children. That place where the joy of seeing a small frog or lizard amongst the moss and ferns fills the heart with joy, and expands the mind with connection and curiosity. A time in life when finding a lady bug was a magical gift of sorts, and when the micro actually seemed so big and so wonderous. We can only feel it when we slow down, breathe, and come down from the frenetic energies of the day to day life. Lives lived mostly on concrete sidewalks, tar covered roadways, cinder-block strip malls, and high-rises.
We are here to bring you back and ask, "have you heard the Earth speak today?"
Because if you stop and listen, she is there - with great and beautiful treasures to share - AND WE ARE HERE FOR IT!!
Great things are coming as we continue to cultivate this space, not only for the small creatures in our care, but truly as a sanctuary for the human spirit. We Thank each and every single one of you that has joined us and shared in our journey.
