I posted this Mare Island Naval Shipyard 30th anniversary closure mention and the news that our page Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve just reached 6,000 plus followers yesterday. Got distracted and forgot to share to my other FB pages. Myrna Hayes

“Who You Share It With”. The song I selected from the FB suggestions for this afternoon’s post photo of the former Mare Island Marine Barracks and parade grounds, on this, the 30th anniversary of the closing ceremony for the Mare Island Naval Shipyard.

And, what else would I like to highlight with this post?! We just reached 6,000 Followers, 6,008 to be exact. You, our Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve User and Follower are one of that amazing number.

I pray that you continue to appreciate the Mare Island I live and love for the past 32 years next month, and share with you. I am so very, very grateful for your friendship, your comments and contributions to my posts and for the many times you’ve chosen to share our Mare Island experience with others in your circle of believers in our wildlands parks, here on this sacred and historic Island, so rich in unique natural areas, cultural landscapes, Naval and Marine history and archeological treasures that show us the way of life of those who cared for it in the centuries and more, before us. I honor you, today, my adopted place.

Introducing the NEW chainsaw in this morning’s rerun from Camp Myrna Cobb Mountain CA a really smart chainsaw powered by 56 volt batteries, rather than traditional gasoline of the 2-stroke engine. Yes, we had a Stihl chainsaw at the Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve, but, NO, I never used it. You’ll learn why in this little morning video from Fall 2023 as I was clearing the massive tree debris covering the former house pad following 8 years of neglect after the Valley Fire 2015.

Hm. That’s some rain coming down! There is a .05 chance of rain tomorrow morning Tues Mar 31. Doesn’t sound like much, but being situated at 2500 ft on Cobb Mountain means that like this day from our first Fall season, December 2023, things could change! Camp Myrna Cobb Mountain CA

Oh I miss this Boy! This week makes 1 year and 5 months I’ve and PPL Penny have lived without Nitro, NiteyOh, Ni-Ni. Going back to our good times at Camp Myrna Cobb Mountain CA together in a morning encounter with something special! His earthly being is tucked in on our mountain post. Always in my heart and frequent and daily prayers are spoken to my heavenly Angel Dog Nite. Enjoy and I’ll be returning to Camp M by April 1st to check in on him and our Mountain retreat.

Good morning to my Camp Myrna Cobb Mountain CA friends. I have been completely absent from my FB page since learning of my brother, Rod’s tragic and sudden passing a little over a week ago. The final plans and notifications have fallen to me. Grief can consume and change your state of being. Did he sneak some of me with him to heaven?! Yesterday felt that way. Like I wasn’t all here. This coyote video is NOT from Camp M. But, it is a part of my wild world. Appears older and not in the best of health. “He” hangs out near where humans are on the Trail I manage on Mare Island in Vallejo where my home is, when I’m not at my Cobb Mountain property. I visited with him in broad daylight on Friday afternoon. Right after, we met up with a “feral fellow” and talked with him a bit. The coyote was heading in the direction some had seen him go, where we thought he might be being fed. Hm. This guy confirmed. I’m already packing the car and making plans to return to Camp with exquisite weather coming up later this week. Stay tuned.
