Over the past few weeks, our Oregon State Fire Marshal pre-positioned Type 6 (light brush truck) has been highly active throughout the county, providing auto aid to neighboring agencies.

In the photos below, Coburg Volunteer Fire District was auto aided on a fire in Pleasant Hill. One of the firefighters staffing the Type 6 apparatus is funded through the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Summer Staffing Grant, helping ensure a faster and more effective response during the busy fire season.

We are grateful for the continued support from the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office and proud to work alongside our partner agencies to keep our communities safe.

On July 5, 2026, the Coburg Volunteer Fire District was dispatched to a reported structure fire. Engine 911 arrived on scene to find a row of arborvitae actively burning, with fire extension to a nearby fence and an adjacent shed.

Crews quickly deployed an attack line and were able to bring the fire under control within approximately four minutes of arrival, preventing further spread to surrounding structures.

A water tender from Coburg was utilized to supply Engine 911 with additional water during overhaul operations to ensure complete extinguishment of the fire.

At this time, the cause of the fire remains under investigation

Earlier this evening, Coburg Volunteer Fire District was dispatched to a field fire. Upon arrival, crews found approximately a ¼-acre fire caused by a downed power line.

Thanks to a quick response, one tender along with a Type 6 brush truck provided through the Oregon State Fire Marshal and 2 tenders from the land owner, were able to quickly contain and knock down the fire before it could spread further.

Because of our summertime staffing grant from the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office, we had personnel already at the station, allowing for a faster response and immediate deployment of our Type 6 apparatus.

Great work by all volunteers and duty crew involved in stopping this fire quickly and keeping our community safe.
