Sweetkind Public Library is again partnering with white Stone Community Church in Pena Blanca to help our students in grades K-12. The Bernalillo School system is making it mandatory for each student to have ONLY transparent backpacks for safety reasons. The Church and the Library have identified strong backpacks large enough to hold an entire day's work and still be breathable and comfortable for students to carry. These sell for an average of $25 to $30 so we are collecting funds to help purchase 100 new backpacks for students who may not be able to afford them. If you can help, please stop in at the library or the church to donate, or send us a check. Call 505-465-2561 for more information1

Sweetkind Library has developed our own Summer Reading Program for students and the kids from Kewa Pueblo are taking full measure. They are combining reading topic specific books about gardening, caring for wild birds, hummingbirds, and small woodland animals with actually planting their own wild flowers and keeping up the bird feeders on our library lawn.
As the library director here in Cochiti Lake I am thrilled that they are enjoying an interactive program while reading together to improve their reading skills!

Sweetkind Public Library has developed our own special Summer Reading Program and kids from Kewa Pueblo are having a great time! They each received a started plant today and will be nurturing wildflowers all summer, as well as caring for our local hummingbirds, bees and songbirds by keeping the feeders stocked. They are reading topic specific books to learn about birds, butterflies, bees, snakes, and small animals and to improve their reading skills by reading aloud to each other. As the library director here at Sweetkind I am thrilled to have an interactive program for our local kids!
