Longer post but please read…..over the last 9 days, the City of Cochran Fire Department, has deployed firefighters and apparatus to Brantley County, Georgia, assisting with the historic wildfires. Upon initial deployment, through the request of the Georgia Mutual Aid Group (GMAG), we have seen the fire grow from 5,000 acres to over 22,000 acres. Over that span the City of Cochran deployed 2 apparatus and 10 different firefighters swapping out on deployment schedules, while never leaving the City of Cochran unprotected. We had the honor and privilege of helping citizens of Brantley County, firefighters from other departments, and other agencies from all over the State of Georgia, and the United States. We got to meet old friends, make new ones, and do the job that we chose to do. Thank you to the mayor, council, and city manager for allowing us to respond and assist the Brantley County community. Thank you to all the firefighters with the City of Cochran who worked the long hours for people you have never met and may never see again! Thank you to the firefighters who worked extra shifts at the City of Cochran, so that the City was never unprotected! This truly is and was a team effort!!

At last nights council meeting, City of Cochran Firefighters were recognized for entering a home on fire and rescuing a victim. This SAVE was on Christmas morning. Chandler the Elf is at the City of Cochran Fire Department. Today he has ran call number 1,400 for the year, cooked spaghetti, toured the fire safety house, learned to write a fire report, and hung out with the famous Sparky the Fire Dog.
