๐จ What started as a simple traffic stop quickly turned into a vehicle pursuit and foot chase with an armed suspect.
On March 9, 2026, just before midnight, Cockrell Hill police officers attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding in the 4100 block of W. Jefferson Blvd. Instead of stopping, the driver fled, leading officers on a vehicle pursuit through the city.
The suspect drove recklessly, ran a stop sign, and ultimately crashed into a parked vehicle in the 400 block of Archer Ave.
After the crash, it appeared the suspect retrieved a firearm from his waistband as he exited the vehicle and fled on foot. There were three additional occupants inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Officers pursued the suspect on foot and observed him discard the firearm during the chase. An officer continued the pursuit, jumping a chain-link fence behind the suspect and giving verbal commands. The suspect eventually complied and was taken into custody with the assistance of another responding officer.
The handgun, a stolen G***k 19, was recovered at the scene.
The suspect was identified as Tahj Christian Myers (DOB 06/26/2005) and is facing the following charges:

โข Collision Involving Damage to a Vehicle MB
โข Theft of a Firearm SJF
โข Unlawful Carry of a Weapon MA

No injuries to officers or the suspect were reported.
