MERMAID AND PIRATE FESTIVAL SWIMS INTO PORT SALERNO
PORT SALERNO, FLORIDA – Join us Saturday, October 5th in historic Port Salerno for the Annual Mermaid and Pirate Festival.
The Family-friendly event takes place at the Twisted Tuna and will encompass several properties located along the waterfront such as the Fish House Art Center and Gallery and Manatee Island Bar and Grill.
Visitors to the festival can shop various arts and crafts and nautical themed vendors and enjoy delicious foods and tasty cocktails while listening to some great music.
There will be plenty for the kids including a Treasure Hunt, Costume Contest, Interactive Games and Activities and kids can learn how to be a pirate at Pirate School. For a small boarding fee, young pirates can have the time of their lives seeking adventure on the pirate ship Avenger which is a nearly 40 foot long and has 5 amazing interactive decks for younger pirates to explore.
Bands will include The Lazy Jacks, who perform traditional maritime music and old time songs of the sea. A-Tribe, who blend the Australian didgeridoo, Indian sitar and a mix of other organic instruments with modern day rhythms, and The Bard and the Minstrel, otherwise known as BaM, whose performance embodies comedy, music, and lighthearted debauchery.
If you are looking for some added excitement, be sure to catch the Pirate Weapon Demonstrations with real muskets and cannons as well as the live alligator show. Bring your camera for photos ops at Blackbeard’s Pirate Ship and an opportunity to meet plenty of mermaids and pirates.
For the adults, The Twisted Tuna is hosting a Pirate’s Ball Upstairs at the Twisted Tuna on Friday evening, October 4th from 7pm – 10pm. So dress like a Pirate or come just as you arrr!
The Pirate’s Ball will feature music by The Lazy Jacks and A-Tribe and will feature a nice mix of live music, fun activities and piratical merriment! Each purchased ticket will include entertainment, an elaborate Buffet Style Dinner, two complimentary drinks and entry into the costume contest to compete for awards and prizes. Wearing Pirate or Mermaid costumes or attire is encouraged but it's not required.
