As a constant topic of conversation today we figured we’d share where the smoke is coming in from.

Many of us woke up to a smoky sky today and you may be wondering, where is the coming from? The majority of that smoke is coming from the Ross Fork Fire in Idaho. Several other fires in Oregon are also creating a large plume of smoke that is moving over Montana.

“As more and more settlers moved West to develop their homesteads, it became apparent that a dependable supply of water was needed...” the original Shoshone Dam (later called The Buffalo Bill Dam) was built to supply this essential water to the area. When the Dam was completed in 1910 it was the highest dam in the world.

Many years later, an 8 year project to modify the dam and associated facilities was completed. The project involved raising the dam 25 feet which in creased the reservoir capacity by 260,000 acre-feet. The spillways were enlarged during this project as well as the walkway which sits atop aeration piers.
