Last Thursday, officers with the Cody Police Department had a great time at Sunset Elementary School participating in a Bike Rodeo! 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️

Students practiced important bike safety skills, learned the rules of the road, and had fun navigating the course. Events like these help promote safe riding habits and strengthen positive connections between our officers and the community's youth.

Thank you to Sunset Elementary for hosting us and to all the students who participated!

🚔 The Cody Police Department is proud to partner in an important community event focused on protecting our kids.

Join us for a FREE CornerHouse Training: Body Safety 101 on May 28th from 6:00–8:30 PM at Big Horn Cinemas.

This powerful training will help parents, educators, coaches, and community members:
✔️ Recognize signs of abuse
✔️ Have meaningful conversations with children
✔️ Strengthen safety strategies
✔️ Create healthy boundaries
✔️ Address online safety concerns

Did you know? 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will experience some form of abuse before age 18. Awareness and education are key to prevention—and it takes all of us.

Following the training, stay for a local panel discussion with representatives from area agencies, including law enforcement and family services, to talk about resources and protections available right here in our community.

🎟️ This event is FREE, but seating is limited—be sure to get your tickets!

National Police Week was established in 1962 when President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which it falls as National Police Week. Each year, communities across the nation pause to honor the law enforcement officers who have given their lives in the line of duty and recognize the dedication and sacrifice of officers who continue to serve every day.

During National Police Week, we honor and thank all law enforcement officers for their courage, professionalism, and commitment to protecting their communities. We also proudly recognize the men and women of the Cody Police Department for their service, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to keeping Cody safe. We are grateful for all that you do for our city. 💙

Please join us in welcoming Officer Alex Poole as the newest member of the Cody Police Department! 👮‍♂️

Alex was raised right here in Cody and is excited to serve the community he proudly calls home. He enjoys watching and participating in sports, and when he’s not on duty, he enjoys spending time with his wife and small children.

Officer Poole was officially sworn in at last night’s City Council meeting. He has completed the Cody PD orientation process and has now started the first phase of the Field Training Officer (FTO) program. Later this year, Alex will attend the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy to complete his training before beginning solo patrol duties.

We are excited to have Officer Poole join the Cody PD family. Congratulations and welcome aboard!
