Town of Coeburn The Town of Coeburn is nestled in the mountains of Southwest Virginia and is situated in the southeastern portion of Wise County, just off Route 58. W. E. Burns.

Originally, the town was named Guest Station after Christopher Gist. When the town was incorporated in 1894, the name was changed to Coeburn in honor of W. Coe, Chief Engineer of the N&W Railroad, and Judge W. The home of Jim & Jesse and Ralph Stanley II, Coeburn is also widely known today for its beautiful downtown, complete with antique lamps, brick sidewalks, and pedestrian bridges. The town sp

The Town of Coeburn will be having the annual Spring Clean Up event April 20-24. If you are a resident that pays for trash pick up, you will be able to schedule an extra pickup for all those unwanted household items. The town will not pick up hazardous chemicals, paint, flammable chemicals, oil, brush, or tires. Please call Town Hall at 276-395-3323 with any questions or to schedule your pickup.

The Town of Coeburn will be flushing the water lines throughout the town and surrounding areas March 24-25. When the Public Works crew is working in your area you may notice a change in your water pressure or air in the lines presenting as a milky color to your water; this is normal and will dissipate as the water sits. Less likely, but still possible, you may notice discolored water. If your water is discolored, please let the water run for a short time and be cautious if washing light colored clothes. Thank you for your patience as we do this routine and necessary maintenance on the lines.
