🌞 We are looking forward to another wonderful afternoon at the Guest River Market this Friday!

The forecast is looking great, with the rain clearing out and comfortable temperatures in the mid-70s—perfect weather to spend some time outdoors with family and friends while supporting local farmers, makers, and small businesses.

Join us today, Friday June 19th, from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM at 523 Front St. in Coeburn, VA, at the market stalls in front of the town mural.

🍽️ Be sure to come hungry! This week's featured food truck is Leno's Concession Hibachi Grill.

🎶 We'll also have live music from The Greens, bringing classic country and Southern rock favorites to help set the perfect small-town Friday afternoon atmosphere.

🍑 Our vendors will have a wonderful selection of fresh produce, including blackberries, peaches, squash, zucchini, green tomatoes, beefsteak tomatoes, corn, cabbage, cucumbers, and more.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

At approximately 9:26 p.m., the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office received a request from a family member to conduct a welfare check at 13658 Fancy Gap Highway.

Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the residence. Upon arrival, two deputies made contact with a male subject identified as Michael Puckett. During the encounter, Puckett opened fire on the responding deputies. Deputies returned fire.

Both deputies were struck by gunfire. One deputy sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. The second deputy was struck in his ballistic vest and is currently receiving medical evaluation and is reported to be in stable condition.

Michael Puckett fled the scene and remains at large. A coordinated law enforcement search is currently underway.

Puckett should be considered armed and extremely dangerous. Anyone who sees him or has information regarding his whereabouts is urged not to approach him and to immediately call 911.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Tomorrow Friday, May 22, 2026 we are honored to be bringing home PFC John Henry Moore a KIA hero from Korea. He will be arriving in Knoxville and escorted by TN police, VA police, Scott county police, Wise county police, Coeburn police, several military veterans, Fort Campbell, Fort Lee, Patriot Honor Guard and many others. If you see us help us honor this soldier back to his home soil.
