RAMSEY ROAD CHIPSEAL WORK TO IMPACT TRAFFIC IN COEUR D’ALENE MONDAY AND TUESDAY

The 2026 Chipseal Program is underway, with work scheduled along Ramsey Road next week.

MONDAY, AUGUST 3

Crews will chip the full width of Ramsey Road from Appleway Avenue to Kathleen Avenue.

The contractor will begin setting up crews, equipment and traffic control by 7 a.m. Travel lanes will be reduced, and drivers should expect significant impacts to traffic speeds.

The road will remain open, but residents and visitors may want to avoid the area or use alternate routes.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 4

Crews will continue north on Ramsey Road, chipping the full width of the roadway from Kathleen Avenue to Hanley Avenue.

Reduced lanes and significant traffic impacts are again expected. Alternate routes may be beneficial to motorists on both days.

🦺 Drivers are asked to use extra caution, reduce their speed and remain alert for flagging personnel, crews and equipment.

The goal is safety for everyone on the roadway.

Ramsey Road - from Appleway to Hanley - will have partial closures starting Monday, August 3rd at 6pm through approximately Tuesday, August 4th at 5pm. This will likely cause delays when driving to and from the Ramsey Transfer Station on Tuesday, August 4th. Thank you!

Glass recycling is provided by the City of Coeur d'Alene and there is a bin for clean glass located at Cherry Hill Park - 1718 N 15th St, Coeur d'Alene.

Unfortunately, the glass recycling bin that was at Ramsey Park in Coeur d'Alene has been removed due to excessive debris being left on the ground.

Please help keep the glass recycling area at Cherry Hill Park clean so that the City of Coeur d'Alene can continue to provide this service.

All staffed sites (including the Athol and Chilco Collection Sites) will be closed on Saturday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. Additionally, the Solid Waste Administration Office will be closed on Friday, July 3rd. Normal operations will resume on Sunday, July 5th.

Please plan accordingly and have a safe and Happy Fourth of July!

We have started seeing LED lightbulbs with Lithium-Ion battery backups in the waste stream. If you have these type of lightbulbs and wish to dispose of them, please bring them to either transfer station and place them in the Lithium-Ion Battery Bin at the Ramsey location or the Battery Collection Pallet at the Prairie location. Please DO NOT place them in your garbage as they can become a fire hazard if they are damaged in a garbage truck or at one the Solid Waste Facilities. If you have any questions as to where to drop off at, please talk to the scale house attendant or one our employees. Thank you!

Construction starting Monday may affect your travel to the Ramsey Transfer Station.

🚧 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫: 𝐈-𝟗𝟎 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲 🚧

Heads up for the Monday commute.

Starting tomorrow, Monday, May 11, the I-90 westbound off-ramp to Northwest Boulevard will be closed 24/7 for about one week.

𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐫:
Use the 4th Street interchange to get to Northwest Boulevard.

Expect congestion and delays around I-90, US-95, 4th Street, Appleway, and Northwest Boulevard.

If you can use another route, do it. Spreading traffic out across other exits will help keep things moving better for everyone.

Through traffic on I-90 should keep left so merging traffic has room.

The US-95 westbound on-ramp to I-90 is expected to reopen by the end of the day Sunday. Once it reopens, I-90 between US-95 and Northwest Boulevard should return to two westbound lanes.

The Centennial Trail will also be closed between Prairie Trail and Northwest Boulevard starting the week of May 11. Pedestrians and bicyclists will be detoured onto Riverstone Drive, with that work expected to last into mid-July.

Avoid the lines!! Ramsey EXPRESS AREA at the Ramsey Transfer Station is now OPEN for the busy season! 🎉
Avoid the scale and long lines! Small loads of household waste and recycling can quickly get in and out without going through the main Ramsey site.
➡️ Come in the Ramsey entrance, but stay in the far right lane and go straight ahead (instead of turning towards the scales). An attendant is on site and available to help and answer questions.
➡️ Small Loads Only: The amount you would have in a large garbage can at curbside (apprx. 96 gallons or less)
➡️ No commercial waste, wood, construction debris, large items, tires or hazmat
➡️ Garbage that is bagged, boxed or contained in some form is preferred for ease of disposal and to keep the area clean
➡️ Open 7 days a week from 8am - 4pm during the busy season - mid April through mid October
