You may see several fire and law enforcement vehicles around the silver lake mall tonight. This is a multi- company, multi- jurisdictional training. Tonight police and fire crews will be training on RTF (rescue task force) techniques. RTF crews are firefighters that accompany law enforcement into active shooter areasthat have been secured by law enforcement to retrieve and treat injured individuals. This is only a training exercise. There is no emergency. Ce

🚨 Does your workplace have an AED?

We are asking businesses and organizations throughout our community to register their AEDs in the PulsePoint AED (“NEAR Registry”) app. This allows both the public and emergency responders to find nearby AEDs when they are needed most.

Whether you work in an office building, gym, school, church, restaurant, or other business/organization, you can help improve emergency response in our community.

📱 Download the app (search "NEAR Registry").

Idaho DEQ has issued a total burn ban in Kootenai County for the near future. This burn ban is in addition to the Stage I fire restrictions. Please remember that Fire Danger and air quality are evaluated together to ensure the safety of our communities. On top of these restrictions, we are also under a fire weather watch due to continued hot and dry weather with increased winds in the forecast for today. Fire resources are stretched very thin so let's all work together to keep our communities fire safe. https://www2.deq.idaho.gov/air/aqipublic/map/outdoorburn?fbclid=IwdGRjcATkDJFjbGNrBOQMMXBkb2YFZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQMMzUwNjg1NTMxNzI4AAEeelztUyw5tr7_72eLibYcQTHB4i21zRjr95cwq_dkG3FlbmOiec3Jnrb0mWM_aem_696-l4ZahuethNY0RBSnjQ

🚨 Fire Danger Level Raised to VERY HIGH 🚨

Current conditions mean fires can start easily, spread rapidly, and increase in intensity very quickly.

❌ Yard waste and slash pile burning are now closed.
✅ Recreational fires are still allowed, but strongly discouraged.

If you have any open flame, including BBQs, please use extreme caution and keep a water hose or fire extinguisher nearby at all times.

With hot, dry, and windy weather expected through Saturday, even a small spark could have serious consequences. Please do your part to help prevent wildfires and keep our community safe.

We would ask that people stay away from the area while we continue working in this hazardous area with burned trees and hot ground. Thank you again to our partners with the us forest service and idaho department of land that worked through the night to contain this fire.
