Mutual Aid Response – Tree & Wires Down

Last night at approximately 12:00 AM, the members of the Coeymans Hollow Volunteer Fire Corporation were dispatched on a mutual aid assignment with the Coeymans Fire Company for a large tree and power lines down on County Route 101.

Due to the location of the tree and downed wires, Coeymans Command requested that CHVFC close County Route 101 at Jarvis Road North until National Grid crews could arrive and safely mitigate the hazard.

The roadway remained closed for approximately two hours while emergency personnel secured the area and awaited utility crews. Responding units included Car 6-01 and Rescue 6-40 from CHVFC, along with Coeymans 5-40 and Ravena Fire 26-40.

Safety Reminder: If you encounter downed power lines, do not approach them or attempt to move them. Always assume that all downed wires are energized and dangerous. Keep a safe distance, avoid the area, and immediately notify 911 or your local utility company. Your safety is not worth the risk.

We would like to thank our mutual aid partners and National Grid for their assistance in helping keep our community safe.

Last evening, members gathered for our weekly drill, but this week we switched things up a bit. Instead of training, we spent the evening decorating the fire station in preparation for the Town's 250th Anniversary Celebration.
Members hung banners, put up new flags, and helped get the station looking its best for the upcoming festivities. If you drive by, be sure to take a look and let us know what you think!
The 250th Anniversary celebrations kick off on July 10th with a block party in the village. On July 11th, festivities continue with a parade in the hamlet followed by fireworks after dark. The celebration wraps up on July 12th with events and activities right here in the Hollow.
We look forward to seeing everyone throughout the weekend! Be sure to stop by, say hello, check out the station, and if you're interested in serving your community, grab an application and learn more about joining our department. πŸš’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
