Amvets Department of Iowa Of particular interest are issues related to veteran’s health care and other entitlements, POW/MIA accountability, national defense and flag protection.

AMVETS is one of the nation’s leading veteran service organizations providing support and services to all veterans who have served in the US Armed Forces and to the communities in which AMVETS Posts are located. AMVETS national service officers, accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), provide free claims assistance to veterans, their dependents and survivors. AMVETS members also donate countless hours to brighten the lives of hospitalized veterans and promote quality-of-life programs such as Special Olympics or scouting.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: As many of you have heard National has raised their Annual dues portion by $5 effective
1 September 2026. If dues are paid online before 31 August 2026 National will accept the current amount due. On or after 1 September 2026 Post will be required to submit the extra $5 portion to the department for membership.

Morning AMVETS Family, as some of you may know, the program reporting system has been down for a while. Our National 2nd Vice Commander, Chris Studebaker and the Programs Department are working with the vendor and stated that the reporting system should be back online Monday or Tuesday of this week. We lost a beautiful person today. Judy Stammeyer served as our Ladies Auxiliary Chaplain but she was so much more. She looked out for all the downtrodden, those struggling, and regularly served the homeless on corners around town with pastries and sandwiches. Rest in peace Judy. We got your watch. When services are known we will post them.
