Coggon Library will be closed on Friday August 28th due to road work. Main and Second street are being worked on and access to the library will be restricted. Try out Libby if you are looking for something the read. I will try to be open on Saturday but need to wait and see if we have access or not. Sorry for any inconvience!

As summer draws to an end I want to thank everyone who came to summer activity hour at the Coggon Library. Thank you parents for bringing your kids and helping to make everything go smoothly. As a one person library I could not have done it without you! And kids thanks for coming and being so well behaved. I had a lot of fun every Friday and hope you did too.
Please let me know what activities you enjoyed and give me ideas for next year.

Join us at the Coggon Public Library on August 18th at 6:00. Robert Smith will be talking about his amazing life:
- Forty years have passed since Robert L. Smith Jr. was hauling in passes for Coach Hayden Fry’s Iowa Hawkeyes in big bowl games.
But the lessons he learned from those years, and the years leading up to them, have not passed.
Come hear his inspirational story!

Robert Smith will be coming to Coggon on August 18th at 6:00 to talk about his life and his new book "Before the World Knew My Name".
Robert was a wide receiver for the Iowa Hawkeyes in the 80's as well as a Big Ten Champion in track. He is a Big Ten football referee, high School basketball referee, and Executive Director of the UNI Center for Urban Education.
Robert grew up in a rough neighborhood in Dallas, Tx and vowed he would not end up in jail or live in poverty. Robert's life proves that true success is about preparation and stewardship. Inspiring and unapologetically honest, his book delivers the ultimate lesson: Opportunity is never handed to you-it is earned, not given.

Coggon Public Library on Friday August 10:00 we have two special guests: Katie Cook will be talking with her hands and teaching you sign language. Carla Morrow will be talking about braille and challenges of the vision impaired. Thank you both for coming!
Coggon Library was fortunate to receive a Dollar General Grant this year! We have used it to promote literacy in young readers thru one on one reading with high school peers and expanding our selection of books and games in the library. There are 5 new games on the shelf that promote reading skills. Check them out! Thank you Dollar General for selecting the Coggon Library for a grant!

Amber Hansen will be performing "Songs for my Students" concert July 24th at 10:00 at the Coggon Opera House. Doors open at 9:30 for this free concert. Everyone welcome! Fun for all ages.
Free lunch Friday will be at 11-12 after the performance at the library. Concert brought to you by the Coggon Library.

This week at the Coggon Library:
The library is closing early today July 15th. Closing at 2:00 sorry for any inconvenience! Library will be open again at 9:00 on Friday.
Just in time for Camp Waspi to come to our Friday morning activity hour. IT will be a fun one! We are making solar smores. And Paul and crew will tell some stories and sing some songs around the camp fire.
Don't forget about the free concert with Amber Hansen on July 24th at the Coggon Opera House!
July 31st is all about trains with our local train expert and beloved second grade teacher Mr. Bowen.
