This Saturday, June 11th, join the Spindle City Historic Society on a two-hour guided walking tour exploring the “Path Through History” along the Delaware Avenue Heritage Corridor. See sites and hear stories of Native peoples’ settlements and a riverfront trading post; Dutch settlements; a Revolutionary War route; a boat building shipyard; textile manufacturing, railroad history, and more. They are hosting two tours:
11 a.m. -- beginning at the Van Schaick Mansion to Peebles Island
2 p.m. – beginning at Peebles Island to the Van Schaick Mansion.
A trolley will traverse Delaware Avenue between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to transport visitors between locations along the route, free of charge. It is all part of Saturday’s “Path through History” event along Delaware Avenue in Cohoes.
A coalition of community organizations will be showcasing the corridor’s rich history with free re-enactments, walks, talks, and performances at Peebles Island State Park, at the Van Schaick Mansion, and in between.
