Congratulations to the two newest Cohoes Police Officers.

This morning Mayor Bill Keeler swore in 27-year old Frank Martinez-Feliz and 23-year-old George Perry at City Hall, alongside Cohoes Police Chief Todd Waldin and Assistant Chief Timothy Keefe.

Both men will report to the Albany County Sheriff's Office Public Safety Institute session #11 Academy in Clarksville on Monday, September 28, 2026.

They will learn fi****ms, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operations, penal law and de-escalation tactics before they graduate in seven months.

At that point, they will begin field training in Cohoes with an experienced officer before starting "solo patrol."

Congratulations to both men and welcome to the Cohoes Police family.

📢 NOTICE REGARDING SCHOOL TAX INCREASE

The City of Cohoes has received questions from homeowners concerning an increase in their recent SCHOOL tax bills. That change is the direct result of an increase in the SCHOOL tax rate, which the school district raised by 6.55% from last year.

There was NO citywide property reassessment. City and County tax bills did not increase.

🏠 Taxable property assessments remain unchanged unless an individual property has been modified, such as a new garage or home addition, and/or a change in exemptions, etc.

Tax rates and the amount of taxes collected are established independently by the three respective taxing jurisdictions: School, County, and City.
