Station Keeper / Maintenance Person
Boght Community Fire District

The Boght Community Fire District is seeking a dependable, motivated, and community‑minded individual to join our team as a Station Keeper/Maintenance Person. This full‑time role is essential to keeping our facilities, equipment, and grounds in top condition for the volunteers and residents we proudly serve.

Position Overview

• Full-time, 40 hours/week
• Starting at $20/hour (based on experience)
• Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, life insurance, vacation, personal and sick time, paid holidays, and NYS Retirement

Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Relevant maintenance experience preferred
• Basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and general repairs
• Basic computer proficiency
• Ability to lift 70 lbs. or more
• Current active volunteer firefighter status
• Valid NYS Driver’s License with a clean driving record
• CPR/AED certification

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain district buildings, grounds, and equipment
• Perform custodial duties (mopping, vacuuming, window cleaning, etc.)
• Assist with setup and breakdown for meetings and events
• Clean, fuel, maintain, and transport apparatus and equipment
• Support community outreach activities

- Current active status as a volunteer firefighter

🚨 Attention Boght Community 🚨

Beginning tomorrow, the New York State Burn Ban will be in effect from March 16th through May 14th.

🚫 No outdoor burning is permitted during this time, including the burning of:
• Brush
• Yard debris
• Leaves
• Campfires

These seasonal restrictions help reduce the risk of wildfires, especially during the spring when dry conditions and wind can allow fires to spread quickly.

Please help keep our community safe by following the burn ban and reporting any illegal burning.

Volunteerism at Its Finest

Tonight, as a winter storm moves through our area, Boght Community Fire District volunteer firefighters are spending the night at the firehouse, standing guard for our community in case an emergency arises.

Many of these men and women have families at home, yet they choose to be here, ready to respond at a moment’s notice to ensure the Boght community receives the quickest, safest response possible throughout the storm.

This is what true volunteerism looks like.
This is dedication.
This is Boght.

Training Underway on Boght’s New Seagrave Ladder Truck 1

On January 16th and 17th, Boght firefighters began hands‑on training with our new Seagrave Ladder Truck 1. Seagrave sent trainer Wayne Burr, who led our volunteer firefighters through two full days of 8‑hour training sessions focused on mastering the truck’s capabilities and ensuring safe, efficient operation.

This is just the start. Additional training sessions are planned, and Truck 1 will be placed into service soon, bringing expanded capabilities to the Boght Community Fire District.

Proud of our volunteers and their dedication to learning the equipment that keeps our community safe.
