Volunteer this June-September with the Regional Stewardship Team to help remove invasive plant species on the Island. The team will be on site the last Friday of every month this season at 1pm to guide volunteers (new and experienced!) in efforts to curb the spread of invasive plant species. Participants will be off trail using different hand tools and are advised to wear appropriate attire for the weather/environment as well as bring sunscreen, bug spray and water. A limited number of pruners and work gloves will be available, so we welcome you to bring your own if you have them.

This event is free and open to the public. To register, please contact the park at [email protected] or 518-268-2188.

Pride is a time to recognize progress, reflect on ongoing challenges, and reaffirm our commitment to inclusion across New York State. It reminds us that progress happens when people come together, with purpose, respect, and a shared commitment to equality for everyone. Happy Pride to all! 🏳️‍🌈

Every year this crew adjusts their schedules (putting their regular duties on hold) to shovel, rake, and roll asphalt. They are out in the hot sun redirecting traffic, keeping fellow employees and patrons safe while they work to patch the road.

Many visitors were patient and understanding, some were not. Seeing the attitude of entitlement and prioritization of a shortcut over these efforts, was disappointing. We would like to thank those that made and consistently make an effort to put the safety of the park, its patrons and its employees first.

With that, patching efforts are complete! Now that they are, speed bumps will be going back out. As a reminder- the island speed limit is 15 mph.

Slow down, be safe, and we’ll see you out there. 💚

POTHOLE REPAIR SCHEDULED 5/26-5/29

Please plan ahead and expect delays and closures to one entrance at a time.

As a reminder: the bridges are for access to the island and not thru traffic. Heavy traffic volume contributes to why the road is in the condition it is. The speed limit on the island is 15 mph, please be especially mindful of this as employees are out working on the road.
