A Welcoming Space for Your Teen After School!

Looking for a safe, supportive place for your high school student to spend time after school? Our High School Drop-In provides a welcoming environment where teens can connect with friends, work on homework, play games, get creative, participate in activities, or simply relax.

Students are encouraged to choose how they spend their time and engage at their own comfort level. Our goal is to provide a positive space where teens can feel welcome, build connections, explore their interests, and enjoy their time after school in a safe and supportive environment.

Your teen is welcome here, just as they are!

Looking for a positive way for your child to spend their afternoon? Our Cardio Kickboxing sessions are now part of our After-2 Program!

Spots are filling up quickly!!!! Join us on Wednesday, September 9th, from 5:30 - 7:30 in the community room located at the Senior Center, 15 Louis Ln, for a fun family night with pizza and a guided painting class by The Color House. Each family that registers will receive a free family tote bag filled with resources the whole family can enjoy. Supplies are limited. Grades 4th and up are welcome to join. This is a family event; all youth must be accompanied by an adult. We can't wait to see you all there!

The school year has begun and although the days are warm, the nights are getting cooler. We're inviting teens between grades 7-10 to join us for our first school year Teen Night - a Fall Festival.

Wear your comfiest flannel and come play Fall games, make sheet pan s'mores, help yourself to the cider bar and candy apple station.

Tuesday, September 22nd from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Youth Center.

This event is free but registration is required at www.colchesterct.gov/yss

🏈 Does your child love football—or want to give it a try?

Our After-2 Program is offering Flag Football, coached by Mr. Nuemuth! This is a great opportunity for students to get active, learn the fundamentals of the game, build teamwork and sportsmanship skills, and have fun with their friends.

Whether your child is already a football fan or has never played before, all experience levels are welcome! 🙌

🍂 September at After 2! 🍂

Looking for a safe, welcoming place for your middle schooler to go after school? After-2 is here!

Our after-school program is open to all 6th–8th grade students and is held at the Youth Center, 95 Norwich Ave, from 2:00-4:30 PM. Students walk down to the Youth Center after school and spend the afternoon in a fun, supportive environment with friends and our staff.

Each afternoon includes:

🥨 Snack time – A chance to refuel after the school day
📚 Homework time – Dedicated time and space to get assignments done
🎨 Activity time – Games, crafts, challenges, special events, and more
🎮 Free time – Time to relax, socialize, play games, and simply hang out

Our September calendar is filled with activities designed to give students opportunities to try new things, discover new interests, and spend time with their peers. Students are always encouraged to participate when something catches their interest, but there is never pressure to join an activity. They are also welcome to simply hang out with friends, unwind, and enjoy the Youth Center.

We want After 2 to be a place where students feel comfortable, connected, and excited to come after school—whether they're looking to get homework done, try something new, or just spend time with friends. 💛
