With the water tower down during the painting process, our fire operations have to be adjusted. Tonight we practiced the process of pumping from a dry hydrant during our meeting. Pumping water from a pond utilizing a dry hydrant gives us access to water when a hydrant is not available.

We are incredibly thankful for the continued trust that the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office and the Macomb McDonough County 911 Center places in the Colchester Fire Protection District for their annual CPR recertification training. Partnerships like this strengthen our community and ensure that those who serve and protect are prepared to respond when seconds matter most.

At CFPD, we value the strong working relationships we share with the Sheriff’s Office and the 911 Center and appreciate the opportunity to train alongside such dedicated professionals. Together, we remain committed to keeping McDonough County safer through teamwork, preparedness, and service.

The Colchester Fire Protection District is proud to announce several well-earned promotions within our department and recognize an incredible legacy of service to our community.

These promotions reflect years of hard work, leadership, dedication, and commitment to serving the citizens of our community. We are proud to see each of these individuals continue to grow within our department, and we look forward to the positive impact they will make in their new roles.

We also want to extend our deepest appreciation to Roger Hodges for over 50 years of dedicated service to the fire department and our community. Roger will be transitioning into an Honorary Position and will serve as the Fire Department Ambassador. His experience, mentorship, and lifelong commitment to the fire service have left a lasting mark on generations of firefighters and community members alike.

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2026 Colchester Fire Protection District public service scholarships. Macy Branch and Madelynn Sullivan both recieved scholarships to help with their secondary education pursuits in public service careers. Congratulations Macy and Madelynn, we wish you the best of luck! Thank you to the many community members that support our fundraising efforts that allow us to set aside money for these scholarships each year.

We had a great time at J & M Building Supply’s Open House this past Saturday! It was a great turn out!
