Sometimes the most important thing we deliver isn't a meal.

It's connection.

Happiness knocks when you deliver Meals on Wheels.

When you volunteer with Age Well, you're delivering more than food. You're delivering a friendly face, a quick check-in, and a meaningful connection that can brighten someone's day.

Many older Vermonters rely on Meals on Wheels not only for nutritious meals, but also for the reassurance of knowing someone cares enough to stop by. For some, that visit may be their only social interaction of
the day.

That's where you come in.

Whether you have a few hours each week or a few hours each month, your time can make a real difference in the life of an older adult in your community.

With routes available throughout Addison, Franklin, Grand Isle, and Chittenden counties, it's easy to find a volunteer opportunity near you.

- Become a Meals on Wheels driver
- Help reduce loneliness and isolation
- Support older Vermonters in aging safely and independently at home

Getting started is easy.

Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD).

Older people are mistreated more often than we think. Unfortunately, an estimated 1 in 10 older Americans experience abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

Raising awareness is one of the most important steps we can take to help prevent it.

Supportive communities, strong social connections, and access to resources all play a vital role in helping older adults stay safe and engaged.

By learning the signs of elder abuse and sharing what we know, we can all help create communities where people are valued, protected, and supported as they age.

A little rain wasn't going to stop Team Age Well! β˜”

Last month, members of our team laced up their sneakers and participated in the VT Corporate Cup Challenge & State Agency Race, Presented by Union Mutual.

While the weather was definitely soggy, it was a great opportunity to get outside, represent Age Well, and enjoy some friendly competition with organizations from across Vermont.

The Corporate Cup is a team 5K run/walk that promotes physical activity and wellness in the workplace. Even better, participation supports programs of the Vermont Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, including the Vermont Senior Games, Community Wellness Grants, Parks Rx, Fit and Healthy Kids, and more.

We're proud to support events that encourage healthy, active lifestyles for Vermonters of all ages!

Temperatures are heating up later this week! Remember that during the spring and early summer our bodies are still adjusting to warmer weather.

Check on friends, loved ones and neighbors to make sure they drink enough water and stay cool, especially if they live alone and don't have air conditioning. Remind them to take heat seriously!

A simple knock at the door.

For most of us, it doesn't seem like much.

But for many older adults, that knock means:
βœ“ a nutritious meal
βœ“ a friendly face
βœ“ a quick safety check
βœ“ the comfort of knowing someone cares

That's the power of Meals on Wheels.

And that's why Age Well is committed to helping older Vermonters remain healthy, connected, and independent.
