OFFICIAL NOTICE: ROADWORK ALERT for WEEK OF JUNE 1, 2026

Beginning on Monday, 06/01/2026, roadway construction will begin on the intersection of Mountain Avenue & Fishkill Avenue.

Here’s what to expect:
*This is a FEMA recovery project from the July 2023 flooding, and it will bring much-needed stormwater and pedestrian safety upgrades at this intersection.

*The work is estimated to take 4 to 6 weeks, depending on weather conditions.

*The intersection may be closed intermittently to pedestrian and vehicular traffic while work is in progress, Monday-Friday from 7am-4pm.

*The area is anticipated to be reopened for safe evening passage and parking.

*The “cut-through” to/from Haldane Central School at the north end of Fishkill Avenue will be closed off: Pedestrians must access Haldane via the 9D/Craigside and Mountain Avenue entrances.

*At times, Nos. 15, 16, and 19 Fishkill Avenue, as well the garage for 14 Morris Avenue, may have limited driveway access during the day. Please see the construction foreman for assistance getting in and out as needed.

*Garbage and recycling bins should be placed where you normally put them out; Royal/Casella teams will back down Fishkill Ave. and gather bins from around the intersection on foot.

*Please do not attempt to walk your garbage, recycling, or yard waste through the construction zone

NOTICE: Camera Traffic Counters Installed in Village
Friday, 05/29/2026 through Wednesday, 06/03/2026

Please be advised that camera traffic counters will be installed at various points in the Village by Colliers Engineering & Design as part of a required traffic study the engineering firm is conducting on behalf of the Kearney Group, owner/developer of the former Marathon site in the Village of Cold Spring.

*Please see the map below for locations of the traffic-counting cameras.
*The cameras will be in place between Friday, May 29, through Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
*Only pixelated images of pedestrians, bicycles, and vehicles will be recorded for the traffic-data study. (No personally identifying data--e.g. license plates, faces, etc.--will be discernable and no videos or captured images will be shared.)

* Please leave your TRASH/GARBAGE out for collection tonight for PICK-UP TOMORROW, FRIDAY MORNING, MAY 29, 2026.

* Please put RECYCLABLES out for collection Friday after 4:00 PM for PICK-UP SATURDAY MORNING, MAY 30, 2026.

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE DETAILS: Please join the Village of Cold Spring in honoring those who gave their lives in service to our country at the Town of Philipstown Memorial Day Parade, Monday, May 25th, 2026 (Rain or Shine). The Parade, hosted by American Legion Post 275 and Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW Post 2362 maintains a strong community tradition in our Village and Town. The Parade will step off from Cold Spring Village Hall at 85 Main Street (near Fair Street) at 9:00 AM and proceed along Main Street with brief ceremonial stops at the following locations, concluding with a 30-minute service at the Cold Spring Cemetery:

*Monument at Saint Mary's Episcopal Church in the HIghlands
*Old Cemetery on Mountain Ave.
*Memorial Stone at Church on the Hill
*Memorial at Nelsonville Village Green
*Cold Spring Cemetery

Thank you for participating in honor of our nation's fallen and supporting this important community event.

Local Dirt: The Food Scraps Advisory Committee would like to remind members that tomorrow, Saturday, April 25, is the first day of the Town Compost Give Back Day. The compost is a thank you from the Town of Philipstown for your participation in the Food Scrap Recycling Program.

Food Scrap Compost is only available at the Lane Gate Recycling Center, on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. For the first two weeks, the Town asks that each person take only one green "transport" bin of compost. This helps ensure availability for everyone. Starting Saturday, May 16, participants may take larger amounts of compost. No trucks or commercial companies please.
Compost will be available each Saturday until it runs out.

Remember that the compost is commercial grade. It is perfect for general garden use. 🌷🌳🪴

There will also be a Food Scraps tent at the Boscobel House and Gardens Community Earth Day event (April 25, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm). ♻️Committee members will be there to answer questions, register new participants, provide Starter Kits and replacement BPI bags to those who need them.

Reminder: Cold Spring Farmers' Market is accepting food scrap waste and other BPI certified recyclable materials. They are composting the waste!

It was a beautiful Arbor Day in the Village of Cold Spring today! This year marks our village's 10th anniversary designation as a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation. The Tree Advisory Board celebrated the occasion by pruning 40 young trees throughout the village and planting two new Nyssa sylvatica (Black Tupelo) trees on Main Street near the intersection with High St. These beautiful little trees will replace a Norway maple that had to be removed last year due to advanced decline. We look forward to their cool shade and bright fall color lighting up the street in future years. Love seeing new and old trees? The Kearney Group, owner/developer of the former Marathon parcel in the Village of Cold Spring, has set the dates for two "Community Engagement Meetings" and two "Open Studio" events. Doors will open at 6:00PM, and the program will begin at 6:30PM.

Tuesday, April 28 | 1:00PM - 4:00PM: Open Studio #1 will be held at St. Mary's Rectory House, 1 Chestnut Street, Cold Spring, New York 10516--Drop in anytime between 1:00PM and 4:00PM to voice your goals for the site, see draft plans in progress, provide feedback, and ask questions about the design process.
