PUBLIC NOTICE

Please, sir and ma’am, STOP putting your trash bags in other people’s trash cans if you are not paying for that service.

If you need an additional trash can or a larger trash can, please contact City Hall or reach out to a company that provides these services.

We have received video footage of individuals doing this. Please STOP immediately. If this continues, we may have to release the video footage that has been submitted to us.

Let’s be respectful of one another and use the trash service that you are paying for.

PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE

In the early morning hours on August 23, 2026, around 4:00 a.m. two young males, who appear to be approximately 17–18 years old, were observed going into vehicles belonging to our citizens in the areas of Pine Street and Flower Circle.

One witness reported that the individuals attempted to open his vehicle door while he was sitting inside warming up his vehicle.

We are currently working to obtain video footage of the suspects. We believe the individuals may have been dropped off in a gray Toyota Tundra.

If anyone has video surveillance, doorbell camera footage, or any information that may help identify these individuals, please contact the Coldwater Police Department at 662-622-7979.

Please remain alert and make sure your vehicles are locked and secured, especially during the overnight hours.

Public Announcement

We have received multiple complaints regarding side-by-sides and UTVs being driven recklessly through the Town of Coldwater, particularly at night coming from Lake Road.

At this time, these vehicles are not street legal for operation on public roads. We strongly encourage everyone to think twice before driving a side-by-side or UTV on public streets and roadways through the Town of Coldwater.

Please operate these vehicles responsibly and obey all traffic laws. Our priority is the safety of our citizens and visitors. Enforcement action may be taken when violations are observed.

We want to thank the citizens who stopped to help the young man who suffered a medical incident at the bridge on Monday. Your concern, compassion, and willingness to assist someone in need is greatly appreciated.

Public Announcement

We have received information that a male subject has been going around neighborhoods during the late-night and early-morning hours checking residents' doorknobs. We are currently looking into these reports and will be increasing patrols in affected areas.

Sir, let me give you some good advice: stop this behavior now before you check the wrong door and the situation ends with serious consequences.

We encourage all residents to keep their doors locked, remain vigilant, and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately. Coldwater Police Department at 662-622-7979

Over the last couple of weeks, we have had a couple incidents involving people shooting at each other. Thank God no one has been hit. This type of behavior is reckless and uncalled for. We do not want innocent people getting shot over nonsense.

Our goal is to prosecute anyone involved to the fullest extent of the law, including seeking the maximum penalties allowed. We are still actively investigating the last two incidents. Please remember that discharging a firearm within the city limits of Coldwater is unlawful.

Update:

We would like to thank everyone for the support you’ve shown this gentleman. At this time, he is staying in a hotel and is out of the weather with temporary shelter.

We also want to thank the Pastor who took the time to speak with him and share the Word.

We are still actively working to find him a more permanent place to stay. If you would still like to help by donating items or offering assistance, please contact dispatch at 662-560-5692. You may also come to the Police Department, and an officer will meet you.

And yes—we did make sure he has a can opener.
