Coldwater Police Department Serving the people of Coldwater, MS.

05/13/2026

Over the last couple of weeks, we have had a couple incidents involving people shooting at each other. Thank God no one has been hit. This type of behavior is reckless and uncalled for. We do not want innocent people getting shot over nonsense.

Our goal is to prosecute anyone involved to the fullest extent of the law, including seeking the maximum penalties allowed. We are still actively investigating the last two incidents. Please remember that discharging a firearm within the city limits of Coldwater is unlawful.

If you have any information regarding these incidents, please contact the Coldwater Police Department 662-622-7979.

Thank you for the Donations.

Update:

We would like to thank everyone for the support you’ve shown this gentleman. At this time, he is staying in a hotel and is out of the weather with temporary shelter.

We also want to thank the Pastor who took the time to speak with him and share the Word.

We are still actively working to find him a more permanent place to stay. If you would still like to help by donating items or offering assistance, please contact dispatch at 662-560-5692. You may also come to the Police Department, and an officer will meet you.

And yes—we did make sure he has a can opener.

Thank you all again for your generosity and continued support.

Community Assistance Request:

We have an older gentleman in our community who is currently going through a difficult time and is living out of his vehicle. We have spoken with him, and it appears he is simply facing a period of hardship.

We are asking for the community’s help in getting him back on his feet. Donations such as non-perishable food items, groceries, monetary contributions, or information on available resources would be greatly appreciated.

All donations can be dropped off at the Coldwater Police Department between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. 662-622-7979 or 662-560-5692 Dispatch

We are receiving reports of teenagers going door to door asking for donations for prom. We encourage residents to use caution when opening their doors and to avoid allowing strangers into their homes.

For your safety, consider verifying who you are speaking with and never feel obligated to open your door if you are unsure. If you observe any suspicious activity, please contact the Coldwater Police Department at 662-622-7979.

We have received reports of underage juveniles riding bicycles back and forth to the gas station at 2:00 and 3:00 in the morning. This behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

Parents are responsible for knowing where their children are during these late-night hours. We will be addressing this issue by identifying juveniles out at these times, following them to their residence when necessary, and obtaining parent or guardian information.

We encourage parents to ensure their children are at home and supervised during late-night hours. Our goal is to keep our community safe and prevent situations that could place our youth in danger.

On yesterday, we received multiple complaints of vehicles speeding up and down the streets within the Town of Coldwater. This type of behavior is extremely dangerous and puts both drivers and residents at serious risk of injury or worse.

There is absolutely no reason for anyone to be reaching excessive speeds or disregarding stop signs in our community. This conduct is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

We will be increasing enforcement efforts, and citations will be issued to those found in violation. We urge everyone to slow down, obey all traffic laws, and help keep our town safe.
