May 27, 2026 Tornado Siren Maintenance

The tornado sirens in the City of Coldwater and Coldwater Township are going through a planned maintenance upgrade today. As part of that process, the sirens will be activated in short bursts, approximately 15 seconds, throughout the day. There is no need to call the police department or Central Dispatch to make a report related to the sirens. Staff will be on hand at each site as it is upgraded to ensure that it is working properly before moving on to the next site.

The City of Coldwater operates five tornado sirens, and Coldwater Township has three, to warn the public in the event of a tornado warning.

The sirens are tested year round on the first Saturday of the month at 1 p.m. The Branch County Amateur Radio Club (ARES) monitors each site in the City of Coldwater to ensure they are working properly and to report any defects.

Today's work will streamline the activation system at Branch County Central Dispatch, allowing for rapid and reliable siren activation in the event of a tornado warning in our area.

BACC Career Readiness Fair

The Coldwater Police and Fire Departments were happy to participate in the Career Readiness Fair at the BACC yesterday. This annual event is designed to expose students to career options, and offer advice on how students can prepare for their career of choice.

Officer Azookari, Fire Marshall Trall, and Officer Aljabaly, were on hand during the event to talk about their roles in the fire and police services. They were also able to pass out a little anti-drug SWAG while speaking to interested students.

Thank you to the Branch Area Career Center for allowing us to participate in this great event!

The Coldwater Fire Department would like to congratulate Drew Ennis on his completion of probation.
