Are you registered to vote in the November 3 General Election? Eligible City of Coldwater residents can register online or at the City Clerk’s Office, located at One Grand Street, Coldwater.

Voting Options:

Absentee Voting: Registered voters can request an absentee ballot online, complete it at home, and return it to their clerk to be counted on Election Day. Visit Michigan Voter Information Center for more information.

Early Voting: October 24–November 1, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Early voting is available to all registered Branch County voters at the Dearth Community Center, 235 E. Garfield Ave., Coldwater.

Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. City of Coldwater voters can vote at their regular polling location.

🌿 Fall Brush Pickup Starts October 5!

We’re just one week away from our first fall brush pickup. Here are a few reminders to help make sure your brush is ready for collection:

Brush pickup:
• Have your brush out by 8 a.m. on your pickup day.
• Place brush at the curb with the cut ends facing the street.
• Brush must be 8 inches or less in diameter.
• No root systems are accepted.
• Keep brush out of the street, driveways, around sign posts, power poles and other trees.

Yard waste:
• Twigs, leaves and grass clippings must be placed in paper yard waste bags.
• Yard waste bags are collected weekly.

The City of Coldwater has installed a new publicly accessible automated external defibrillator (AED) near the tennis courts at Heritage Park.

The outdoor AED enclosure keeps the device protected from the elements while allowing it to remain accessible when park facilities and City offices are not staffed.

Residents are encouraged to become familiar with the locations of AEDs in the community and to call 911 immediately in the event of a medical emergency.

Last week, the City of Coldwater had the opportunity to join the U.S. 12 Heritage Trail Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) as they continued their important work caring for local history.

During their visit, DAR members cleaned 17 Civil War graves, Old Sam, and seven Crippen family stones in our local cemetery. By carefully cleaning and restoring these markers, the DAR helps protect important pieces of history, including names, dates and family connections that can be valuable to researchers and future generations.

The U.S. 12 Heritage Trail Chapter, established in 1916 and serving Branch and Hillsdale counties, carries out this work as part of the DAR’s mission of historical preservation, education and patriotism. Their volunteers have also worked on Revolutionary War graves, Civil War memorials, storm-damaged cemeteries and other historic sites throughout the area.

We appreciate the time and care the DAR continues to give to preserving the stories of those who came before us. Thank you for helping keep Coldwater’s history visible for generations to come.

The CHS Homecoming Parade is Friday night at 5 p.m.!

Please be aware of the parade route along West Chicago Street, from N. Hudson St. to N. Fremont St. Streets along the route will be temporarily blocked, and traffic in the area may be slow.

Please plan accordingly and allow a little extra time if you’ll be traveling through the area.

South Monroe Street will be closed beginning Tuesday, September 22, for approximately 1-2 weeks while an asphalt mural is installed along the center of the street.

The closure is expected to last through October 1, but the street may reopen sooner if work is completed early.
