The objectives and purposes of this Association are to act as a local component of an officially recognized Labor Union to engage in collective bargaining and negotiations for the purposes of improving wages, working conditions, and advancing rights, while promoting the security of the membership under the laws of the State of Michigan and the United States of America. To unite, represent, defend
and promote the interest of all members of the Association who are eligible under these constitution and bylaws. To ensure a measure of social justice and economic security to all members. To inform, safeguard, and promote the general welfare of Association members. Further, to assist members and their families in matters relating to pensions and other benefits. To cooperate, deal, and interchange ideas with other organizations and individuals interested in promoting the efficiency, professionalism, and well-being of Association members. To represent the interests of the Association and fulfill it's obligations to the members as outlined in the bylaws. To receive, manage, invest, expend, and otherwise use monies and property of this Association to achieve the objectives set forth in the constitution and by-laws. To provide and furnish services to all individuals, groups, or bodies as required to further the aims and purposes of the Association. To engage in cultural, civic, legislative, political, educational, charitable, welfare, and social activities benefiting the interests of the Association and its members. To foster and promote a better understanding of the nature of Corrections, Law Enforcement, and services in support thereof, to promote the professionalism of Deputy Sheriffs and Corrections Officers.
